Each division is represented by an alderman chosen by the students. The Council itself is run on a very democratic basis. In this organization the students are in complete charge with a mayor or president as the presiding officer. Here at Harper, in the past years, the Council has sponsored such social events as dances, plays, and assemblies. It also takes up minor problems which concern the students directly, such as keeping the school supplied with a flag in every room and putting on drives to support the school paper. During the fall semester the oficers were: Mayor, Marilyn Burke, Comptroller, Violet Bandise, and City Clerk, Leo Prath. In the spring semester the oiiicers were Leo Prath as Mayor, Jerry Galich as Comp- troller, and Arlene Moore, City Clerk. 62' hooting Stars Prospective students often won- der what goes on in the Pro- ductions Class. Most of the time is spent working on plays that are to be put on in the near future. Last fall the class got together, wrote and pro- duced a topical comedy. It was a hit with the audience because it was on a subject near to their hearts, football and . . . the new coach, Mr. Jacobson. Immediately after that warm- up, the class got down to the serious business of preparing for the night show. This year it was c'Brother Goosef, a farce comedy. It continued the foot- ball theme because the main character, which was acted by Celia Spence, was a young girl who kept her family in an up- roar with her football antics. Len Zoukas skillfully portrayed the brother. The productions class is under the able direction of Mrs. A. 0'Brien, whose successful first year here forecasts many enter- taining hours in the future. Up with the ball and two more points for Harper. This was seen at all the games especially when We defeated Bowen and Carver. Under the coaching of Mr. Swee, our Heavies always put on a good show. 91 HEAVIES Row I-Liggett, Kamrath, Hayes, Sheehan, Gorski, Smith, Liewald Row 2---Mr. Swee, Burman, Outley, Mcl-Iale, Guarinari, Koller, Stewart Sitting-Riewe, Leto, Shannon, Fryer, Sowake, Pratrher x-x is an mn at is H, h.. Under the coaching of Mr. Gray, and their Captain, Al Smith, they just swung, threw, hit, and ran right through their opponents. Pictured on this page in the upper left hand corner can be seen Gerry Sheehan throw- ing the ball while, below, Coach Gray and Al look on in approval. In the up- per right corner Al and Ray Unrath are wonder- ing who can get there first as, just below, Esch is making a terrific catch, while to the left again can be seen John Muscato and Unrath doing some fancy handling. Below are seen batting, Dunne and Leto. Beside them George Ritchie and John Moscos are doing a terrific job of pitching. At the upper right Gerry Gorski goes reaching for a catch, while beside him Don Danis looks high and wide for the ball. At the bottom, after a lot of exercise, the team receives comment from their Coach. . .vt f Track Row 1-Jones, Woods, Ligget, Coach Swee Row 2-La Porta, Hoifmeister, Hurman Row 3-Holahan, Fanson, Van Bogget, Hanson, Weidner Two of the 'many fine sports indulged in hylithe boys here are track and swim.
