along the sldewalks Suddenly one of the men 1n the lead Jeep was pulled out by some thulg and dragged to the ground where he was knocked out by an IH vlslble force The 'nen stopp d the Jeeps got out and started walklng up the sxdewalk Major Blake 1n th lead suddenly dropped unconsc1ous to the ground struck by an lllXlSlbl8 force As they knelt by the Major on ot them was QEIVQII 1 h ud klck that llnfled h1m on h1s face across the Mawr They sloshed water on the Ma1o1 s face to bring hlm to 1nd then hfted h1m to h1s feet Looklng, up the street they saw tracks for comlng toward them xx is not less than ten gluns seemlngly Iloatmg through the alr W1th thelr own submachlne guns the men sent a hall of bullets toward the oncom mg guns There wele screams of pam and the guns clattered to the ground Slowly one of the fallen guns ralsed and fired and one of the men fell dead Another man screamed 'mu fell a kmfe m h1s back The men looked at each other and then started runnmg for the yeep Thev couldrt fight the Mars men who were made up of matter that Was mv1s1ble to them Jumpmg mto the Jeeps they spun them around 1n the wlde street and roared off toward their space ship where they would be safe from the 1nv1s1ble 1nhab1 tants of the planet It was lndeed stlange for exe y thmg looked the same as lt dld on Earth the countryslde the cltv and even the cans and trucks The only difference was that the mhabltants were composed of a matter 1nx1s1ble to the eyes of the Earthmen As they neared the space sh1p they Wele elated to see that noth1ng had been dlsturbed Drlvxng the Jeeps mto the hold they secured them and prepared to take off TI'31H1I1g the radar televlewer on the ground around the Shlp the Marsmen could be seen They had the same S176 and features as the Earthmen as well as about the same mental cflpaclty As the atomlc rockets were filed the sh1p shot into the alr ind roared stralg ht lnto the xold Destlnatlon F trth As soon as the course w 'ls set thc men lclaxefl and beg ln tllk ng, zbout then nauow escape and about the ones th It dldnt escape Sudflcnlv euh man felt 1 p 111 ot lllXlSllJl6 hands enc1rcle h1s neck and st zrt to squeeze the llte flom hlm As the last man dlopped to the floor dead the sh1p sped on bflllfglllf, closer to the I 'lrth Have they ar rlved yet?
