Girls were also a very important part of this year's athletic department at Harmony. They started off the year with a very successful softball season. Their record was 8 wins and 3 losses. Norma Hartley was their pitcher. Leading in the batting department with their averages were: Nancy Meek with .5005 Susan McCabe with .438g and Connie Stecker with .406. To reward them for a good season, the girls brought home the sectional champions trophy. Basketball was a very recognized part of the Harmony girls schedule this year. With an over-all season record of 12 wins and 14 losses, and with a conference record of 6 wins and 6 losses, the girls surprised many people in the locality. Captains for this year's team were Norma Hartley and Sherry Medaris. As a senior, Sherry had her peak season by leading the team with her high point average of 21 and most points scored in one game of 39 against Win- field-Mt. Union in the district tournaments. Sandy Stecker led the defense in rebounds with 275 for an average of 10 per game. She also holds the record for most rebounds as a sophomore. To add grandeur to their season the girls came home with the runnner-up trophy in the sec- tional and they were fourth in the district. As their season came to a close, the conference teams were named on which Norma Hartley was named as first team guard, Sandra Stecker, second team guard and Sherry Medaris, second team forward. Honors also went to Norma Hartley as she was chosen for honorable mention on the all-state teams. She was also chosen as most valuable player of her squad for the season. When the time for track rolled around 13 girls reported for duty to Mr. Thomas. The team was led by Connie Douthart and Debbie Watson who scored 50 and 42 points respectively. These two girls also placed in the conference track meet. SWARTOUT'S SALES Sz SERVICE Hillsboro

Homecoming ueen and Court Janet Hamberg, Cathy Eden, LeAnn Grossman, 1966 Homecoming Queen Joan Rohdy The First Annual Harmony Homecoming was held on October 7, 1966, sponsored by the Student Council. A pep rally was held the night before the big game with Central, which we won 26-7. Officers of the alumni were elected by those graduates attending, and they will have charge of the homecoming next year. A victory dance was held following the football game. We ,hope that this sets a precedence for homecomings to follow.
