The National Honor Society consists of eight seniors and four juniors. Students eligible for NHS must attain a grade point average of at least 3.0 or higher. The students eligible for this honor are given an essay questionnaire in which they answer questions pertaining to scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Teachers who have been on the faculty for four years or more select the NHS members by evaluating their questionnaire sheet and holding private interviews with each potential member. National Honor Society sponsors a Student of the Quarter during the first three quarters of the school year. A senior is elected during the first nine weeks. A Junior the second, and a sophomore the third nine weeks. Each student must be on the honor roll for the quarter and must demonstrate qualities that the National Honor Society stands for: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. National Honor Society members are not eligible for Student of the Quarter. Teachers then rate the eligible students on the basis of 1 - 10. The NHS votes on the top four ranked students to determine who will be the Student of the Quarter for the nine weeks. Each Student of the Quarter is given special recognition. In the spring, the National Honor Society will hold their annual banquet in which all NHS members, their parents. Students of the Quarter and their parents will be present. like Johnson, Kendall Bigalk, Suzie Alfson, Andrea Storhoff, Jodi Boice, Leann Thomas, Barb Grebin, Tom Hutton, Mike ikkink, Dan Torgerson, Bob Casterton, Terry Kraling, Rich Bigalk, Jill Eiken, Below: Lori Soma, Chris Sattler, Kathy Jutton, Tracy Kiehne, Jodi Hellem. 1st row: Julie Engle, Andrea Storhoff, Sondra Elton, Jodi Hellem, Karen Bigalk, Sharon Elton, Angie McCabe, 2nd row: Teresa Jacobson, Kaiya Rahm, Nancy Shofner, Ann Dahl, Amy Scheevel, Jackie Scrabeck, Kris Bigalk, Tonya Bestor, 3rd row: Jodi Whalen, Kelly Miller, Cindy Browning, Barb Grebin. FHA CREED FHA UPDATE We are the Future Homemakers of America. We face the future with warm courage and high hope. For we have the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious values. For we are the builders of homes, homes for America's future. Homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair. Homes where truth and love and security and faith will be realities, not dreams. We are the Future Homemakers of America. We face the future with warm courage and high hope. President Jodi, Vice President Cindy, Secretary Amy, Treasurer Kaiya, PR Ann, Tonya (not pictured.) 64 The Harmony Sr. FHA has been very active this year and is rapidly increasing in size. In past years, the FHA has been very small but this year there are 26 members and they have been involved in many activities. In November they sponsored a Holiday Craft Show which was held in the old gym. It was a big success and they are planning to make it an annual event. December 7, the Sr. FHA sponsored a teen dance in which they donated the proceeds to the Kristi Tripp fund. The editors of the 1985 annual would like to thank the many members of the annual staff who helped greatly in the production of this years' book. The sale of ads candy, help at the concession stand and the group effort to pick up the questionairres given out by the city helped signi-cantly in keeping the price of this years' book down. We would also like to thank our advisor, Mr. Buccholz, who had the patience and encouragement needed to keep things in control while our minds were in total chaos. Also a big thank you has to go to the student body of Harmony High. Without you we would have nothing to print. The participation in sports and extra curricular activities has been great. We hope this will continue for many years to come! Many hours have been put into the 1985 Cardinal and we, the editors, feel that all the hard work had paid off. We hope you, the readers, enjoy this years' annual as much as we enjoyed creating it for you! Editors ]r. Editor - Eric, Sr. Assistant Editor - Teresa, Sr. Editor - Amy. 88
