US io The first musical program of the yesr was presented by the High School Vocal snd Instrumental organizations on the evening of November 8. The program consisted of ensemble and full group numbers. It was a feature of American Education Week. The annual Christmas program was presented jointly by the grade and high school singers, under the able direction of Miss Bjelland and capable assistance of the faculty, it featured beautiful solos, costumes, and singing by the chorus. On April 6 the District 1 Music Festival was held in Harmony. There were 12 schools present and 650 singers. The program consisted of the presentation of the different schools’ vocal groups, practices for the Massed Choruses, and in the evening there were selections from the Massed Chorus, Massed Glee Club, and Picked Massed Chorus. The critic judge was Mr. Youngberg, Supervisor of Music in the La Crosse Public Schools. The District Music Coitest was held at Chatfield Saturday, April 20. There were 1657 contestants and 128 entries with P? schools represented. Harmony was represented with 106 contestants. The program was brought to a climax with the Massed Chorus singing two selections and the Massed Bands playing three selections. The critic judge was Mr. Euyoers, director of the Hamlin University Choir.. A musical program was given by the Harmony Music Dept, on Friday, May 3. The vocal groups including the mixed choruses, glee club, ensemble groups, and the instrumental grouos presented several selections. This program was in connection with Americam Music Week. On June 2, the District 1 Band Festival was held at Lanesboro in Sylvan Park. There were 12 schools represented in the district. The beginning of the festival was a parade of all the bands from the football field to the nark. Mach band played its selection and the climax was the massed bands playina two marches.
