That force is know n to us all to be the Spirit of ’76.” It is a S 1 1 HI I Oh LIBERTY and the knowl- edge that one man’s freedom is more important than anything else on earth. It is the SPIRIT OF OPTI- MISM of knowing that we can always make things better — of working only for the best, and expecting only the best. It is the SPIRIT OI FRON- TIER — of not fearing to go where man has not reached. George Washington Alexander Hamilton James Madison John Hancock It is the SPIRIT OF INDIVIDUALISM — acknowledging a birthright of opportunity and freedom drawn from the strength of our fathers. Indeed the SPIRIT OF ’76” was, and is, many things, each of which has been a building block of our national greatness. Our country grew on that spirit and prospered on that spirit.
