The Engineers, unfortunately, bowed to the Panthers in the fray, but still ended the season with a 7-1 win loss record. The team was led to victory by Coaches Myers, Olson and Claussen, PICTURED AT RIGHT with sophomore quarter- back, Stanley Gliko. introducing the southern 5-b champs. . The 1972 Engineer Football Team consisted of: (STANDING) LEFT TO RIGHT - BACK - Sam Griffith, Fred Womack, Rodney Fleming, Mike Scally, John Eadus, Tim Stearns, Russel Lode, John Johnson, Dwain Meyer, Dennis Murnion; flanked by Manager, Jim Bain (LEFT) and Roger Larsen (RIGHT) (MIDDLE) Coach Olsen, Victor Tuss, David Lane, Mike Murphy, Jim Eadus, John Daggett, Stanley Gliko, John Todd, Tim Murnion, Paul Murch, Coach Myers, Coach Claussen; (FRONT) Larry Callant, Ed Otten, Hal Stetson, Bob Jones, John Starnes, Rick Stroh, Clyde Wood, Robert Griffith, Doug Gillen and Manager, Tom Mahoney. This year, not only were six of the Engineer's Seniors elected to the All- Conference first team to fill 10 positions, Coach Myers was also elected to serve as an All-Conference Coach. The mem- bers of the A11-Conference Team are: (Offense) Tim Murnion, guard; John Starnes, end; Ed Otten, tackle; Vic Tuss, center; Bob Jones, running back; (De- fense) Tim Murnion, end; Vic Tuss, tackle; Paul Murch, safety, and Bob Jones, linebacker and punter. The Engi- neers of 1972 will long be remembered at HHS. 33 The 1973 Wrestling Team fought like the Engineer Machine they were. They reigned victorious at tour matches, and sent three members to state competition in Missoula February 16 and 17. Led on by Coach Loehding, the eighteen boys on this year s team proved they had the spirit that a great team needs. Moving COUNTERCLOCKWISE, just a few of the many highlights of the '73 season are shown on these pages: the large picture at the TOP shows John Eadus being thrown by some of the competition; Coach Loehding, calm, cool, and collected as the Engineer Machine runs smoothly; Dave Nickson on top for a pin; an attempt to thwart the competition by Bob Jones, who placed third at the State Wrestling Meet; and John Johnson in the victory stance following a success- ful round. The team, shown in the picture ABOVE, consists of: STANDING-Manager Fred Womack, Bob Jones, Rick Stroh, John Todd, Dave Nickson, John Eadus, Richard Pidcock, and Coach Loehding; KNEELING-Jim Eadus, Bill Duncan, John Johnson, Mike Weber, Mike Scally, Nick Tennis, and Jim Widdicombe; SEATED-Dwain Meyer, Larry Lammers, Kevin Fochs, Jim Rosenberg, and Peter Ritz. They were cheered on by the girls shown surrounding the Engineer sign at LEFT: FROM TOP TO BOTTOM-Lynette Hunter, Theresa DeNevi, and Marlene Fischer. Amid the shouts of the crowd and the strains of marching music from the band, the prize winning floats rolled along the parade route past the prize winning windows. The Sophomores took first place in the floats, the 8th grade second and frosh third; the window places were the Juniors, first; Sophomores, second; and 8th grade, third. The sunlit day of the reign of Queen Lynette and Princesses Marcella and Kathy drew to a triumphant close with the Engineers over-coming the Columbus Cougars 26 to 12.
