Painting of the “H” The sophomore class painted the H on Wednesday of Homecoming week. At two-thirty the class ascended the hill armed with brooms and buckets. After white- wash was mixed and the rocks were splashed with white, the class returned to the school to erase all signs of the afternoon's activities. Freshmen Initiation On Thursday, during the week of Homecoming, the freshmen are initiated into the school by the seniors. Activities included dressing the fresh- men in outlandish costumes, teaching them poems, and finally subjecting them to a program where eggs were thrown, brownies were eaten, and gloop was sat in. As a finale the freshmen toasted the seniors with a concoction of many liquids. 5 Sadie Hawkins SADIE HAWKINS 71—A time for good ole fun when half the hay in Wheatland County was put in one gym. A time when girl chased boy.. .boy ran from girl.. .boy fell... girl tagged boy.. .boy and girl dressed up for the big night at Dog Patch. On this night all the old coveralls were put on, pigtails and braids were back in style, everyone took up smoking a corncob pipe, a few weddings were per- formed, and Ann Nissen fell down. Doughnuts were the food; cider (apple) was the drink. John Cooney was choosen LILf ABNER and Peggy Watson was DAISY MAE. The highlight of the night was the hayride at which all the hay on the truck and all the hay in the gym ended up on the ground in front of the little city of Dog Patch. .. .they’restill Homecoming Second Place-Freshmen Take a Victory Ride With The Engineers Floats Third Place--Eighth Grade Harlo'd Walk A Mile For A Victory Flying High For A Victory' Page Photographed and Sponsored by McNAB STUDIO, Bozeman Homecoming Royalty Queen Karen Smith Princesses Anne Johnson Marilyn Peccia and Candidates Juniors-Cherie Labrie, Karen Smith, Vicki Heck Seniors—Glenda Smith, Marilyn Peccia, Anne Johnson Freshmen-Joann Holmes, Debbie Lane, Julie Aicher Fall Play: Meet Me in St. Louis cast Mr. Smith Tom Stearns Mrs. Smith Peggy Watson Rose Linda Aicher Esther Marlene Fischer Agnes Glenda Smith Tootie Jeanie Steams Lon Chuck Toavs Grandpa Prophater. . . The Foreign language club of Harlowton High School had a busy year. These French speaking students formed into a relatively small group under the direction of Miss Normile. They met every other Tuesday of the month. Their projects included having an entry for the Homecoming Parade, organi- zing the International Bazzar, and singing French Christmas carols at Christmastime. For money making projects the French Club made and sold carmeled apples at the home football games. In early November they participated in the annual International Bazzar. Later in Basketball season they sold homemade popcorn balls and carmeled apples. The final meeting of the year was held in conjunction with the annual banquet. The parents were invited and treated to delicacies of the French cuisine. Shown are a few members of the French Club as they prepare their banquet.
