1 THE ENGINEER STAFF Editor: Sandra Lode Assistant Editors: Ken Voldseth Sandra Blumer Members of the staff: Nancy Mielke, Nancy Malesich, Kay Wojtowick, Sue Amdor, Judy Conley, and Jean Watson Adviser: Mr. Ross Jones Senator E. F. Dick McQuitty 1878--1960 E n g I n e e r Senator E. F. Dick McQuitty served his community and state for many years in many different posts. At various times he was Wheatland County Commissioner, Mayor of Harlowton, and a member of the school board. He also served in the State Senate for sixteen years. As a great fan of football, Dick attended the Engineers' games. He and his brother provided the school with McQuitty Field. He was always ready to help when anyone was in need, and he never expected thanks. He was a great humanitarian in the truest sense of the word. To Dick McQuitty we, the staff of 1961, respectfully dedicate this annual. 1 SUPERINTENDENT THOMAS CORBETT Superintendent’s Message It is with a feeling of confidence that I watch the Class of 1961 go forth from the Harlowton High School. This is truly an amazing group in ability, interest, and as a whole, sincerely dedicated to the good things of life. The pleasure is yours to be finishing your high school training with the first man in space flights. This makes you infants in a vast new world of experiences. I'm sure you'll be up to the demands. Make your mark in Space. It is my hope and prayer that you will be unselfish in life with a sincere humility to your fellow men, and that you will have God's love in your hearts. As a trumpet player he does grand. Maybe some day he'll have his own band. Jim Burrows, our curly headed blonde, Of a junior girl he's really quite fond. In the chorus he has quite a voice. We wonder if he'll make singing his career by choice. We have a boy who we call Buck. We hope he has the best of luck. He was captain of the football team. Bud Colby is a sophomore girl's dream. Don Olson has an ambulance of pep; To keep up with him we'll have to step. Off to mortician school he will go, Some day to come back and lay us in a row. Nancy Neighbor who’s far from quiet. When you get to know her she's really a riot. In a Caddie she does ride, with a cer- tain John by her side. Kathy Miller was our Prom Queen. A prettier blonde you've never seen. With a ring on her finger and stars in her eyes. In the sea of matrimony she will rise. Curt Barf , wants to raise cattle instead of Going off and fighting a battle. With 12.74 acres to his name, he is on His was to fortune and fame. From Judith Gap Mary Glennie did hall. At 8;15 a.m. she gets the mail. From Joe she always gets a letter. Among the boys there is no better. Linda Lamners who was our class treasurer, To her the work she did was a pleasure. She was the Homecoming Queen of Class '61. We thought she was a wonderful one. Sedgwick in her little brown Chevy, Drives around like she'a in a tizzy. Donna rolls her own with good P. A., and coughs and chokes the day away. Sandra Lode, the shy little lass. Is the Inspiration of the senior class. In the role of Mrs. Van Daan she was very good. We all think she should go to Hollywood. Ray Pidcock is a great little thing. We've never heard him whistle or sing. He's really smart, but mostly in math. We hope that the freshmen will follow his path. Dick laughs and laughs without a cause. And shakes 'n shakes like Santa Clause. Parry apple-polishes with the teachers, Because he is that kind of creature. Charles DcBuff had many troubles in class. Mr. Pnladichuk kept telling him he wasn't going to pass. The class agrees he's really swell, but There are many things we won't tell. Linda Frost, our dark-haired lass. Was chosen best looking in our class. She left all the boys in the lurch And found a special one named Murch. Karen Kamop, our quiet girl. Gives that green Chevy quite a whirl. Chasing boys is not her game. To be a book-keeper is her aim. Now Cliff Neighbor, our all-star in track, For speed in the future he'll never lack. With football, basketball, whatever sport you choose. It would be very hard to fill his shoes. Esther Owens is next in our class. We never heard much from that senior lass. She is a good seamstress and a baker. We know she will make a good home-maker. Don Wood is a boy with a constant grin, And is known for his midnight swim. As a football player, he was well known. And now his fame to Fort Ord will go. Kenneth Voldseth in his pickup green Up and down nainstreet he can be seen. He studies hard, and sings quite well. V hat his vocation will be, we can't cell. Keith Gregerson from Shawmut does hail. He's quite handy with hammer and nail. Studies and girls are not his line. But to trap a live animal suits him fine. Back from Idaho Nola came; her smile and spirit were just the same. To earn a credit she bicycles each day. So she can graduate in May. Leonard Torstenbo We know his Chevy About his studies Wien he graduates is next in line, could use a shine, he can take or leave then, the girls will grieve him.
