Mrs. Davis is respected and loved by all who have had the privilege to know her. Through the years, she has endeared herself to her many students by her patience, her kindly and sympathetic attitude, and her unfailing endeavor to arouse in her students a genuine desire for l-cnowledge. For thirty-two years she has devoted her best efforts to teaching in Texas schools. For twenty-five years, she has been a member of the faculty of the Harlingen High School. We feel that it is indeed fit- ting and proper to celebrate her silver an- niversary at H. H. S. by honoring her with this dedication. E1 Arroyo Staff Mary Ellen Kirby, Editor ffl! Public interest and school enthusiasm were at a height this year because of the hard work done by Mr. Frank and the band. ln the musical field the band came off with top honors. They won a first at All Texas Day in Austin, and a first at the Pigskin jubilee. Mr. Frank expects the band to do as well at the Band Festival in Brommsville and the lnterscho- lastic League in McAllen. The band perfomied at a Christmas Concert and put on their annual spring concert. They also partici- pated in the Charro Days' festivities. The band is always present to add color to the pep rallies and games. They were doing the Mambo. Ughhhhh! , .-t - . 3. . i ' 9 aw. 1:74 .A , ...Lrg ,- .W .. ri-Kb in ,Q . Although having a relatively green team, they came out fourth in district. Going down the line the Cards scalped the Harlandale Indians 2C to 19 only to lose to Weslaco in the last seconds ofthe next game 13 to 7. The Red Birds outflew the Brownwille Eagles 20 to 6, dumped Laredo 33 to 0, and swamped Edinburg 32 to 6 in the first conference game. Losing the next 2 games in the fourth quarter, Alice 29 - Cards 7 and McAllen 27 - Cards 12, they came back to beat Pharr who was disuict leader and rated 8th in the state, 45 to 13, thus helping McAllen to the throne of Champions. The Cards branded Kingsville 27 to 6 and then preceded to really take it out on their old rivals in San Benito by burying them 52 to 13. jfs ,.'
