Dear Miss Neal, When we recollect our days at Harley, one of our first memories will be of you. Through high school we have been envious of the seniors, and looked forward to the day when we would be Sel1i0l'S too, and be able to share our experiences with you. We think one of the reasons each senior class has been better than the one before is because you have been there to encourage and to sympathize with each one, and have entered in the fun and work with your humor and enthusiasm. To each new class, you bring along the experiences you've shared with the ones before. You have expected the best from us, and because of that, we have tried to live up to your hopes, so that you and the rest of Harley would be proud of us. When we are with you we feel the Harley spirit, omething impossible to define be- cause of its intangible qualities. It is a combination of all the faculty, students, alumni, and experiences of Harley, and since you've been a part of Harley for so long, and have given so much time, effort, and thought to it, Miss Neal and Harley are almost synony- mous. We feel very lucky being your last senior class and are trying to make it the best class ever. Harley will lose a great deal when you leave, but your spirit and all you have done for Harley will still remain. Harley would not have been as wonderful as it is without you, and we want to thank you for your years of loyalty here. We wish you much happiness in the years to come. From your loving and last Senior Class, 7
Glen Jalan, The 1952 graduating class began way back in 1937 when Chris D'Amanda, Hilde Stem, and Jimmy Laney entered the Nursery School. The next year there was one small addition to the first grade, Janie Lowenthal, who has never seemed to grow since then. We were honored by Andy Goldman's visit, although it began and ended on the same day. Immediately we began to eat up books' under the helpful eye of Mrs. Broadbooks. Patty Gilbert and Wendy Menzie joined us in the 2nd grade and Sue Weil left for 23 school. That year we ma e our debut on Broadway with the smashing hit, Pass n' Boots. Mrs. Mac's stories of Dr. Falstaff filled our imaginative minds in the 3rd grade. All of ns learned to be escape artists with the help of Dr. Falstaff's liquid formula which could melt iron bars. The next year we were joined by Anne Town and nearly drove Mr. Powers crazy. Bonnie Peer came in the 5th grade and we upset all the teachers by pulling down the shades and tipping over the desks and chairs to pla horrorhouse. Mary Arce, Mary Morgan and Peter Warren were the next additions to our class, when Mrs. Cummings, our su ply teacher, taught us setting-up exercises and the song My Aunt Had a Lame, Tame Crane.' Wengy Menzie left ns in the 7th grade and Marilyn and Pat Percy arrived to take her place. Pat and her puppets and art work thrilled us all. Eidrth de was the complicated year as Hilde, Bonnie and Pete Warren left. To fill up the lost space, however, gaarriet Flack, An y Goldman, Barbie Katz, Jimmy McCollum, Vance Nichols, Joan Schlossman and Sue Weil entered. The next year Jimmy McCollum, Pat Percy, Chris D'Amanda and Jimmy Lane leftg Pat and Harriet left with a round-trip ticket which brought them back in our Senior year. Our adrditions for this year were Boo Humphrey, Carla Rolde, Mimi Schwarz, and Sharon Vogel. Neither Mr. Davidson nor Ancient His- tory Class will ever forget Ma's Cow lMoscowl. Our tenth gade was at a loss when Boo, Sharon and Anne Town left. But we benefited when Jack Ault came, soon to become the President of Harley School. The eleventh de was an unforgettable year. Jane Boller, Sally Fuller, John Goldman, Didi Lawler, Dick lllembrandgn Feldman and Janie Ratcliffe joined the rest of us and we succeeded in printing our promised amount of Shrdlus. This was also our 'A Date with Judy year, which everyone agees was a great success. Our hit song for the year was Wedding Bells Are Breaking Up That Old Gang Of Ours, as Didi and Vance took up another kind of homework. At lastwe made the grade and with the addition of Yogi and the return of Harriet and Pat, nineteen of ua became Seniors. Our 'Christmas Dance decorations topped all others as we hope this yearbook does. And now we come to the end of our class history and close the pages of our wonderful years at Harley. Harlequeen Only make believe. We got our men. Literary Meeting?
