A Nickel’s Worth of Huskie Pride Is Better Than A Buc A firetruck turned onto the schoolgrounds and Homecoming had begun. The pom-pom girls, cheering from the top of the firetruck, led the endless row of cars and the Homecoming theme, “A Nickel’s Worth of Huskie Pride Is Better Than A Buc”, was readable on the fenders. The Homecoming spirit glowed as brightly as the bonfire as one Belvidere Buc found a sad end in the smoky flames. The 6-6 tie with Belvidere did not lessen the spirit of the spectators and the cheer- leaders added a note of comedy with their skit, “Huskie Machine”. The always severely competitive floats were paraded down the track and, following tradition, the Class of ’76 arrived first. At the Semi-formal Homecoming dance, the Court, with Queen Lori Stenzel and King Tim Kane, was presented to the sweet notes of Albatross.

Diary of Anne Frank 1942. “Jews must wear a yellow star, Jews are forbidden to drive, Jews must be indoors by eight o’clock, Jews are forbidden to visit theaters, cinemas, and other places of entertainment, Jews may not take part in public sports, Jews may not visit Christians....” At the age of thirteen, Anne Frank, along with her family, was forced into hiding to avoid senseless persecution at the hands of the Nazis. For two long years, they lived in silence, without sunlight or fresh air, exist- ing on their wit, courage and little else. Under the competent direction of junior Lou Ann McKinney, the cast and crew of ANNE FRANK presented a true bicentennial portrait of courage.
