HARLEM CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL Administration At no time has the need for vital education been so great as today. With the trend toward the utilitarian and modern, it would seem as though it were necessary to dismantle all that was precious in the past and embark on fragile patterns of learning in order to sell the curriculum to those who cry That's old stuff! Let's get in line with the new! To meet the tremendous problems, the public schools of America must extend their influence to humanity. Threatened as is the fibre of society by flimsy and taudry standards of living and diversions, there needs to be a training in those things that are of good report so that good judgment may obtain. Then only can the mind be freed and fearless. Then only can one know that the world is his. In the course of study at Harlem, there is sought a balance between facts and ideas. The co-operation of departments tends to effect a blending of learning. Purposeful study will dispel the fog. The school exists for the student. Given serious application, patient research and thought, there is demonstrated satisfaction, freedom, wisdom and benediction. To Mr. Hovey. a leader, patient yet firm, progressive yet conservative, willing to live and let live, goes abundant credit for maintaining and holding the required educational standards.
