Facultg Principal appoints department chairmen to improve curriculum Mr. Douglas Sheedy, principal, with the help of Mr. James Gosdin has done much for our school. He and his assistants have done much in the reconstructing of the school curriculum. They better or- ganized each field and made them into specialized departments composed of department chairmen and level chairmen. One thing that has come to Harlandale that no other school in this district has is two new assistants. They are Mrs. Geraldine Mullins, Asst.-Principal in charge of Student Affairs and Mr. Larry Brown, Asst.-Principal in charge of Student Accounting. Furthermore, Mrs. Mullins is the first woman to ever serve in this capacity. One of the many other important roles Mr. Sheedy plays as chief administrator is that of originator ofthe school spirit displayed here. During the Spirit Contest it was Mr. Sheedy who permitted stu- dentstoh ld W 't -l h ' ' ' ' 0- ri e ns int e lobby and helped inspire us to go ahead and win. Facultg Smith begins second gear ki ,b,. , , lug, 3, . Mr. Callie Smith began his second year as superin- tendent of HISD in September of l 969. With the help of his assistant, Mr. Charles Bogges, the school board has done a iob well worth mentioning. One of the plans that affected this high school was the approval for the construction of the new wing which will be in use next school term. Thanks to them our high school is finally expanding in order to accomodate the demanding number of students now enrolled. Board members for the year l969-l97O were William Brashears, J. W.
