The Officers and Men of USS HARLAN COIUNTY can take a great deal of pride in our performance during MARG 1-88. The professionalism shown in the long and often difficult operations at sea and the outstanding display of good behavior and goodwill ashore were an example for other ships and men to follow. It was a demanding operational schedule we met, with many days spent isolated with no word from our loved ones at home. We saw much ofthe world, while our own worlds turned without us. But no matter how we choose to look back on MARC 1-88, HARLAN COUNTY's seventh Mediterranean deployment, we can always remember that when it was our turn, we did it right on the SUPER GATOR! el. Special thanks go to ENS Decellas fFrench Navyl, Mrs. Charles Erde, EN3 and Mrs. Skidmore, and SN Day for their help, without which this cruisebook would not have been possible. Also special thanks to the many crewmembers, too numerous to mention, who gave up their own photographs so that the entire crew could enjoy them in this cruisebook. Charles Erde, ENS, USN
