CLASS HISTORY September 4, 1945 nine girls and six boys began their high school career. Since the school building wasn't large enough to hold the pupils, we were to make our home room in the Methodist Church during the Freshman year. Three of the girls dropped out to get married. Our faculty for that year was W, S, Nicholson, Miss Emma Watson, and Frances De Vane. During our Sophomore year we were transferred back to the school building with our faculty the same except for Mr, M, G. Harris, who took the place of Miss Emma Watson. That year we had six girls and six boys. During the last semester one of the boys, decided to attend a larger high school. We began our Junior year making our home in one of the dressing rooms. Two new teachers were added to the faculty. G. D. Hardesty succeding Mr. W. S. Nicholson, and Mr. H. D, Davis as an extra teacher. During our third year in high school two of the girls left our group. Leaving us a total of four girls and five boys. At the beginning of our Senior year we had the privilege of choosing our own room, because two new rooms had bean added, Richard Arlen Lewis a veteran was allowed to move into our class from the tenth grade, making a total of ten Seniors. The faculty remained the same as in our Junior year. I, Louie Hallis Hancock, will all my medals to Ronald Davis and 1 hope he takes good care of them. We,the Seniors leave the Juniors the responsibility of taking care of the new furniture, shades, and maps in our classroom. We, the Seniors leave the Sophomore class our ability to do better in the future. We, the Seniors leave the Freshman class wishes and hopes that they enjoy their future years of work and play in our school as we have. CLASS PROPHECY After returning from a secluded and very unsuccessful rendezvous with madam X in one of our very remote and secretive places, where the surf roars angrily leaving its scars upon the sand and rushing back into the sea a Genie sprang from a topping wave and uttered this class Prophecy. Mr. Monroe Paylor seems to be on the road to success, but I can see him in the state Penn, correction 1 mean Penn State, I can see Louie Hallis Hancock and Fannie Dorie Lewis up in Mass, just taking in all the night clubs and waiting for the moon to rise. It looks like Rodgers Willis is going to tie himself down here on Harkers Island with Carol Rose. Frank Fulford would like to play basketball with some college team but I expect he will make a nice plumber. Llewellyn Willis will end up in the Navy or he will marry that little girl he has been seen with lately. Miss Elva Mae Davis could do more to further her education but she will end up living on red hill with a house full of kids. I can see Miss Clara Estell Gaskill and Kimp Styron sailing around the world and then settling down on Shell Point. I see Rose Marie Lewis and Hallis Lawrence living in New York City and having a very good time. I see Richard A. Lewis’ walking the Harkers Island roads the rest of his life and begging for what he can get to eat. I see Nova Doris Rose living in Beaufort with Glenn Smith but she would like to be on Harkers Island with all her friends.
