The Academy is vitally concerned with the promotion of good health among its if f cadets, and the prevention of sickness and injury. A coordinated, twofold medical V' program providing for prompt, adequate care is therefore provided for each Cadet. tlj The Academy Physician main- tains regular hours at the clinic and makes infirmary calls to treat minor disabilities and ambulatory patients, and to give diagnostic and clinical advice. The nursing staff is in attendance 24 hours a day whenever the Academy is in session. Q21 The Academy Student insurance Plan supplements the services of the Academy Physician by pro- tecting the cadet against the ex- pense of the more costly illnesses and injuries requiring inhrmary or hospital confinement, hospital treatment, or the services of a -WH A K A school physician, resident nurse, practical nurse, and two cadet medical officers provide twenty-four hour service in the Infirmary when needed. surgeon or consultant. These are the disabilities which often seri- ously disrupt the cadet's budget. The Academy Student Insurance Plan reimburses the cadet up to the specified limits described herein for these more expensive illnesses and injuries, thus pro- viding comprehensive protection. Cadets are protected by the Academy Student Insurance Plan twenty-four hours a day-on campus or off- from the open- ing day of school in September through the closing day in june.
