Glllllil C lbe most effective guidance program is found in the school where the student and his development are factors considered to be as im- portant as the subject matter in the curriculum. At Hargrave the Guidance Program is used to discover the needs, interests, aptitudes. abilities and capacities of each cadet. On these bases we build our program of instruction. liach cadet is assigned a faculty advisor, who keeps in close contact with him regarding his personal, social, moral, and academic develop- ment. Scholastic Aptitude and Standardized Achievement tests are administered to entering cadets to assist in their proper classification. Personality and vocational preference tests, given at intervals, help the cadet's counselor in advis- ing him regarding his personal adjustments and vocational choices. Periodically, tilms dealing with vocational. educational, and social relationships are shown to the cadet corps. Each year the school con- ducts a survey of vocational interests among the cadets. The results are considered in planning for outside speakers, forum discussions, and spe- cial vocational films. Monthly reports on these adjustment prob- lems are made to the academic dean by the faculty advisors. Additional time is made avail- able to students for personal, specialized counsel- ing. One of the outstanding features of the program is College Night. :Xt this time in- formation and interviews are made available by the representatives of many colleges and universities. The spiritual life of the cadets is fostered in a special way by an annual Religious Empha- sis week. At this time stress is placed on the great spiritual and moral values. During the week an outstanding religious leader visits the campus and lives with the cadets. Fonferences are held by him to assist the student with his problems.

He stands for the highest ideals of life. He loves peace and deplores war, but is always ready to defend his country in its hour of need. He respects authority. He obeys the law.
