Y'-it ,. .W-up-11'-inet ik' i ORACLE 1929- g LAWRENCE J. HAGGERTY Smiles', CHARLESTON, WEST VIRGINIA Private, Company HB , Private, Company HA , Member: Cosmopolitan Club, Football Squad, Jeffersonian Literary Society, Muske- teer Staif. Here, ladies and gentlemen, is a young fel- low from the state of West Virginia. He is a constant wearer of the smile, therefore the name '4Smiles. Lawrence is a fine fellow and is liked by everyone in school, he likes to sleep in class, but he is always there when the reports are made out, so we believe that he is merely having visions of his future instead of so much sleeping. HSmiles visits Danville quite often and We are prone to believe that he has a ufairi' in- terest over in that town, although We never hear him speak of Sher. Smiles,' leaves us now, with the intentions of doing great things and we feel sure that he will succeed if he will only keep up his same spirit that he has shown while with us here at Hargrave, so, luck to you, uSmiles, ol' boy, THOMAS M. HALLIGAN CCHappy93 1 CLIFTON FORCE, VIRGINIA Private, Company UAW, Sergeant, Company MAP, Second Lieutenant, Company MAP, Mem- ber: Secretary ,leffersonian Literary Society, Varsity Club, President, Varsity Club, Cap- tain, Varsity Football, Captain, Varsity Bas- ketball, Member: Track Squad, Varsity Base- ball, Athletic Council, S. O. S. Club, Blue Ridge Club, Art Editor, ORACLE, President, Senior Class. This is Happy,,, the fellow you've heard so much about. He came down in the Fall of '25, and has been the same HHappy all the time. He is an artist, too, ladies and gentlemen, an artist in several ways. He likes to imitate, as you will see if you ever see him act, for sometimes he is HAY, Jolson, again he is Ted Lewis, then he is the 'ghome-town sherifffi sometimes he is uGalli-Curci, but most times he is uRip Van Wi11kle, except he doesnlt sleep. uHappy is the best name we could think up for this gentleman because he is happy all the time. As you leave us, HHappy,i, we wish you success. f . A A s ess f ., fffff QfQlfQj iiii. f ff I

GUERRANT Crl1pv Hash CHATI-IAM, VIRGINIA Private, Headquarters Detachment, Corpo- ral and Sergeant, Headquarters Detachment, Member: Eureka Literary Society, Blue Ridge Club. The young man before you, ladies and gen- tlemen, is known to us as 'LCrap.', He is one of natureis noble men, a man far ahead of his time. c6Crap has had a hard time reaching his present status, but he is holding to it with all his might. Nothing but his strong personality and good favor enabled him to gain the title of dignified senior, and he has done well since that attainment. c'Crap', has made many friends here at Har- grave and he will be missed by all. Good luck to you, Crap.,, KEELING, VIRGINIA Private, Company HB , Sergeant, Company HA , Second Lieutenant, Company uA',g Se- nior Captain Cadet Corpsg Member: Jefferson- ian Literary Society, Blue Ridge Club, Foot- ball Squadg Assistant Captain Rifle Teamg President, Student Council. ln the fall of '24, we were aroused bythe clatter of an old Ford as it was making its first debut at Hargrave, and out of it jumped 'al-lash Guerrant, coming from the city' of Keeling to make a name for himself in both military and school activities. ul-lashn has upheld his ambition by being president of the student body and Captain of the Cadet Corps, and has won many other dis- tinctions since his entrance at Hargrave. HHash has won the respect and admiration of all his school mates and we hate to see him leave from our midst, but the world needs men of his type, and we are expecting great things of him. Go to it, uTim, keep up the spirit and you are sure to win.
