People To People The purp 05 e of People-to-People, an international organization, is to promot e better international relations. Last summer the chapter at HJC sponsored an ambassador who traveled extensively in Europe. Upon her return, Miss Charlotte Mason, now presi- dent of the club, addressed both students and surrounding communities. This year another student will be sent to live and travel abroad. Pat Herbert and Mike Campbell portray the tragic destruction of a family in Long Day's Journey Into Niqht. Pozo, Lucky, 6090, and Didi introduced their audiences to the Theatre of the Absurd. This was a year of firsts for the Dra- ma Society under the leadership of Mr. Edward Ross. Beginning in September, the group put on the first student-directed production, jig Can't Take Emm. In November comedy changed to tragedy with O'Neill's Egg- Day's Iournexlnig Night. Then, with the spirit of Christmas, the organization moved off campus to pre- sent a music a1 revue for the county schools for retarded children. In March another first was started in the exchange of plays with other junior colleges in the state. Waiting m Godot, directed by Mr. James H. Hopkins, was taken on tour to Essex and Catonsville Community Colleges. For the final per- formance of the year, the group turned once again to comedy in My Three Angels. Aside from the major play produc- tions, the Drama Society, also known as the Rustic Set, sponsored several coffee- houses. The first of these was a benefit for the People-to-People Scholarship Fund. The students were entertained by local folk singers, and the first Ugly Man was crowned. Adramatic reading of Jean- Paul Sartre's E E was presented at the second coffeehouse. Drama is also represented at Harford Junior College by Delta Psi Omega, a nationally recognized honorary dramatic fraternity.

Chessmales The Chessmates started the season with the annual Ten Second Tournament in September. Next, the Harford County Open was held on December 11 and 12. The Chessmates began the new year with several members going to the Penn State Tournament, which was held in February.
