Owleye 1-13 Owlexe has changed its facade during the past year. It stirred needed controversy when it asked students through its editorial column whether or not they wanted the name of our football team changed. The feature column introduced reviews of plays and movies taking place both on the campus and in nearby areas. The sports column achieved a new height of interest among students by using interviews and personal sketches, and not just enumerating the won-lost aspects of the game. Under the direction of Mr. Roy Pipher, fie- Owleye has attempted to present a varied picture of campus life and to inspire more students to contribute to its pages. Charlotte Mason, Editor; Mr. Roy Pipher, Advisor. Mr. Pipher carefully proofreads the paper at every stage. Pat Herbert and Mike Campbell portray the tragic destruction of a family in Long Day's Journey Into Niqht. Pozo, Lucky, 6090, and Didi introduced their audiences to the Theatre of the Absurd. This was a year of firsts for the Dra- ma Society under the leadership of Mr. Edward Ross. Beginning in September, the group put on the first student-directed production, jig Can't Take Emm. In November comedy changed to tragedy with O'Neill's Egg- Day's Iournexlnig Night. Then, with the spirit of Christmas, the organization moved off campus to pre- sent a music a1 revue for the county schools for retarded children. In March another first was started in the exchange of plays with other junior colleges in the state. Waiting m Godot, directed by Mr. James H. Hopkins, was taken on tour to Essex and Catonsville Community Colleges. For the final per- formance of the year, the group turned once again to comedy in My Three Angels. Aside from the major play produc- tions, the Drama Society, also known as the Rustic Set, sponsored several coffee- houses. The first of these was a benefit for the People-to-People Scholarship Fund. The students were entertained by local folk singers, and the first Ugly Man was crowned. Adramatic reading of Jean- Paul Sartre's E E was presented at the second coffeehouse. Drama is also represented at Harford Junior College by Delta Psi Omega, a nationally recognized honorary dramatic fraternity.
