MRS. MEAD'S MESSAGE Dear Class of 1958, In the fall of 1953 you looked ahead and thought, 'Four long years! How can we waitl' Now those years, as you look back, have really flown along. With the sense of accomplishment there is mingled just a little sadness that the carefree times and happy companionships are ending too. You are going out of the sheltered life into a most challenging period of world history. You can meet the uncertainties and fears with acringing spirit that draws into its own little shell in futile search of protection, You can meet it with the so-what-can-I-do shnig. Or, you can meet it with an unselfish devotion to right, to duty, to responsibility. To meet it in the last way, you will need faith in yourself and faith in God. You Will need to test all of your attitudes and actions by the effect they will have on your contemporaries and on funire generations. I trust that you will choose the good life. I am proud of you now, I expect to be proud of you always. I can leave no better guide for you than Pau1's admonition to Timothy: 'Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. May God keep you ever in His watchful care and bless you always. Your advisor and friend, Virginia Mead CLASS COLORS CLASS FLOWER Blue and White Red Rose CLASS MOTTO Give to the World Your Best
