THIRD ROW: Eric Thompson, Larry Whitner, Ron Smith, Bobby Eldredge. Harding 's A Squad started slowly even though it has some early wins. The regular sea- son record was 11 wins and 8 losses. The team picked up momentum and eamed a win over Central, which has won the Harding Invitational Toumament at Central. Success for team was seriously hampered by the loss of Clarence Brown for the McGuinness and Kennedy games. The team needed his scoring punch. The team was led all season in the rebounding department by John Baker, ably assisted by Lawrence Wilson, Mike Thomas, and Edward Maxwell. Ninth graders who played most of the season on the first team were Wayne Strotter, Richard Colbert, Ronald Smith, John Baker, Mike Thomas, Lawrence Wilson, and Larry Anderson. Eighth grad- er Edward Maxwell and seventh grader Eric Thompson chipped in for some helpful points. A great help at the end of the season was provided by transferring ninth grader Donald Smith. Other boys who played a big part and worked hard in practice scrimmages to toughen the first string were Larry Whitner, Lee Knight, Charles Watley, and Jimmy Booth. 82
