Barb ' s court consist of Kim Edington, Tete Lovick, Sue Cover, and Kim Berry. Homecoming was a success. The band presented a delightful half¬ time show featuring the queen and her court. Our fighting Prexies were victorious over Sandusky. H pit if p E ‘ J ifJLl mm mmm Ml The Student Body In Action A Spirit Group The students at Harding are involved in many activities ranging from the athletic clubs to the musical associations. If the students aren ' t physically involved in an activity, they are cheering the team on to a victory. Whatever the case may be, the students at Harding show that they have pride in whatever they do. i i ■ i 1% fig iW Sp ' 1 The ' 74- ' 75 marching band was one of the best in years. As direc¬ tor Miller said, This year ' s band was one of the finest groups of kids in years. Mr. Miller rates the band after every show. This year ' s aver¬ age was 97%. For the first time in 4 or 5 years the band received three 100% ratings. By a fluke of luck none of these shows were done at home. These were the annual program and a concert with Lorain. The pep band ' s climax oc¬ curred at the last basketball game as the band and the adult pep club played and sang Budwei- ser. 1. Frank Breithaupt demon¬ strates after-concert relaxation. 2. The pep band arouses assembles as well as basketball fans. 3. Mr. Miller accepts applause as the band prepares for the next number. Lee, J. Hazen, D. Freese, A. Sansotta, R. Seckel. Active Year for Dusters The Stardusters completed their thirteenth year at the annual review. The review cli¬ maxed an active year of performances for the Dusters. 1. Sweet and low with the saxophones in G-Whiz . 2. The smallest section in a jazz band, the percussion, fills an important role and Phil Metheny makes the Dusters complete. 3. At the review Mr. Swihart completes his first year as head director of the Stardusters. 4. The Dusters feature Regina Rasey in Barn Burner 5. Kiwanis, Rotary, P.T.A. were some of the clubs that the Dusters entertained. 6. All of the 23 Dusters met advanced per¬ forming standards before playing in the review. 22 I Musical Talent Abounds at Harding 24 1. Seven hours of marching practice go in each week before the band strides onto the field. 2. The pep band helps raise the spirits of the crowd and players during all the home basketball games. 3. The or¬ chestra and both choirs combined for “Christmas at Harding . 4. The Stardusters climax occurred at their review and their denouement was the Panorama. 5. For the choirs annual concert the Mixed Chorus and Concert Choir shared the spotlight. 6. Sweet sixteen struts down the “Sunny Side of the Street at the Panorama. 7. Jeanne Morgan accompanies the Concert Choir. 8. For the last time Alice Sutherland and Beth Sayre proudly play as Seniors. I Panorama Roars and Swings Panorama went nostalgic with the theme The Roarin ' Twenties And the Swingin ' Thirties. As usual the Panorama contained all the musical groups at Harding. Along with them many students demonstrated their talent as dan¬ cers. Directors for the many groups are George Lane, Edward Miller, Gary lams, William Swihart, and Richard Brady. 26 1. Concert Choir kept with the theme by singing a medley of nostalgic tunes. 2. Eight couples jitterbugged around center stage including Jeff Mautz and Sue Moser. 3. Jeff Teitelbaum adds a new dimension to the choir as he strums out Shadrach. 4. Sweet Sixteen added a bit of the super¬ natural as their gloves glowed while singing On the Sunny Side of the Street. 5. The introduction of three new annual awards highlighted the show. The winners are: Orchestra Award — Janice Brown, Band Award — Kirk Kelly, Choir Award — Joel Imbody and Jeanne Morgan. 6. Sue Hachten and Kirk Kelly show the dramatic ability of the Senior class as they sing a medley of tunes. 7. Shown kicking up their heels are Karen Williamson and Mike Ionno in Sensation Rag. 8. This year the meet¬ ings included a mortician, psychi¬ atrist, and a trip to Battelle Labora¬ tories in Columbus. The Harding AFS club started the year off with a campout at Camp Owens in September. The club held Halloween and Christmas parties too. Something new this year was the square dance sponsored by AFS after a basketball game. To raise money, the club sold T-shirts for the classes of ' 75 , ' 76 , and ' 77 . Carlos Chacon, our AFS exchange student, was presented his senior class ring which was purchased by the club. Future Teachers I 1 r 1 m k This year the FTA had many new experiences. The members were permitted to go to Indian Mounds and Eber Baker on a regular basis for student teaching. At Hallo¬ ween some members went to the elementary schools to help with the celebration. On the MARCA field trip, the mem¬ bers toured the school and worked with the students. Among them is machine shop, run from Harding; small appliance repair, located at Taft Middle School; and senior welding, which this year has a building of its own. The instructors are constantly helping students perfect their vocation. 59 Vocational Fair Proves Successful This year ' s Vocational Fair was very successful. During the day, the child care class showed exactly what their type of program does. The auto shop was also represented with a booth. Other projects ranged from meat cutting to electroplating. This was good enough for a third place showing in the confer¬ ence. Starting forward, Randy Gipson was the 2nd leading scorer in the B.C. Doug Rose- berry lead the conference in foul shooting. Senior Brad Reichardt placed fourth in the sectionals while sophomore team mate Tim Hickman took seventh. I Swimming The Harding tankers tied up their season with an 11th place final at the districts meet in Toledo. Senior, Jeff Day left with two new records in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly. The 400 yard free¬ style relay also set a new record, the mem¬ bers were, Jeff Day, Dan LaMarche, Doug Virden and Fred Somerlot. 75 Cross The 1974-75 Marion Harding Cross Country team end¬ ed the season with a brilliant 11-2 record. Lee ' s Legion was led by team captains John Williams and Steve Card- well. The Harriers as a team finished sixth in the district meet in Columbus, but Williams advanced to the state cross country meet where he finished in 17th place. Baseball The 1975 Buckeye Conference Baseball champs fin¬ ished the season with a 15-5 over-all record. Behind the superb pitching of Gary Miley and Sam Koonce and the powerful hitting attack of the remainder of the team, the batmen rolled over Findley and Lorain to take the title. The cross country team finished the season with an impressive 11-2 record. John Williams senior, received the “Most Valuable Runner award plus a three year plaque. In the Golf Department the team ended with a 5-10 record. Senior Brad Reichardt received his three year award. The Football team ended with a record of 2-7-1. The most valuable player awards went to Sam Koonce on offense, Bob Stalling on defense, and Greg Ferrall on the specialty teams. Their next de¬ feat came in the tournament games in Toledo, Ohio. They lost the last and crucial game against Toledo Bowsher. They still placed a strong second in the state of Ohio. Dr. Stuart replaced former Superinten¬ dent Robert S. Brown who retired last year. Administrative employees, in¬ cluding those persons who have provided a cleanly, healthful at¬ mosphere here, have contributed to the maintenance of Harding s operational facilities and the wel¬ fare of its students. Printing I and II have.taught the students the process of laying out and setting type. The music department has of¬ fered curricular as well as extracur¬ ricular opportunities for budding musicians here.
