After an opening season victory over Columbus Mo¬ hawk, Harding dropped the next nine contests. The Prexies faced one of the toughest schedules in the state in the Buckeye Conference, and four of the Prexie s opponents were state ranked. The season highlight was a near upset of the Sandusky Bluestreaks, who came to Marion ranked no. 2 in the state and sure of an easy victory. Sandusky held Harding on the one foot line to avert a stunning upset as the Prexies put forth their best effort of the season. Harding finished out the sea¬ son with two close defeats to Lorain Sr. and Mansfield. The Prexies John Beach earned first team All Buck¬ eye Conference honors at the center position. Other Presidents earning second team conference honors were Mac Meginness at tight end and Jon Holmes at de¬ fensive halfback. Elmo Wright and Henry Johnson re¬ ceived honorable mention. Mark Abrams Emitt Adams Brenda Albright Ronald Albright Roy Allen Peg Alspaeh Donald Anspaugh Deborah Anthony Bruce Arndt Jesse Arthur 136 The 1973 graduating class set off the second hundred years of Hard¬ ing High School with a great amount of ambition and zest. As the first class to experience the Marion Harding Freshman Building (MHFB), we made many new friends. Our class worked hard that year, and by the time we reached our sophomore year, we were united as one. Here we got busy and accomplished many things. Our committees chose the poppy as our class flower and fern and forest green for colors. The junior-senior prom and Junior Class Play highlighted the junior year at Harding. Our senior year brought forth many activities and fun. There were many qua¬ lity gatherings during 1972-1973. We boast three valedictorians and a salu- tatorian. The future holds much success for the class of 1973, but we will always recall these happy moments, and we will always be united in spirit. During her years in the teaching profession, she has given of herself un support of the school and its activities. Her tireless enthusiasm has touched students as well a: - Iftfi l urteri , H ' I ly JU l ' s Hdv i gjship of this yearbook over a span of twenty years. We, the advisors and staff of this Quiver, can appreciate this work above all other. So, it is with this personal appreciation that we dedicate this 1973 Quiver to Miss Marv Jo Stafford with all the best wishes for a bright and fruitful retirement. “The man-k of wisdom is to see the Miraculous in the common. — Emerson So here I am, in the middle way having had twenty years Trying to learn to use words, and every attempt Is a wholly new start, and a different kind of failure Because one has only learnt to get the better of words For the thing one no longer has to say, or the way in which One is no longer disposed to say it. And so each venture Is a new beginning, a raid on the inarticulate With shabby equipment always deteriorating In the general mess of imprecision of feeling, Undisciplined squads of emotion. 208 T.S.
