Harding Students Broaden Skills Through Academic Involvement The skills so vital to acquiring a good education come a little easier to Harding students. The students of H.H.S. find greater opportunities for academic involvement, now, thanks to innovative faculty members. Many of these faculty members are using the independent study plan. Through its use, we find greater time for work on term papers, research reports, and group projects. Other teachers are finding success in class-wide projects. The senior government classes have begun mock legislative programs with one class playing the role of the Sen- - ' 4 ate while another plays the role of the House. Other classes actively take part in city government and report their findings in class. One junior his- tory class has become foster parents to an Indian child, while still another collects food for local needy families. Other classes are also becoming relevant, exploring such issues as envi- ronmental pollution, drugs, and rock poetry. Besides classroom activities there are chances for academic in- volvement in student government of the classes and student council.
