The leaves have fallen, been raked, piled, and burned. Harding has risen, raked in 8 wins and 1 loss, piled up an average of 356 points, and collectively gained 3,151 yards this season. Nine Harding Presidents won honors on the Buckeye Conference squad. Pete Porietis and Tom Prichard were unanimous choices. Don Kern and Ed Schoon- maker won places on the first team. Gerald Bosh, Jim Maginn, Abner Thomas and Jim Miller nailed the sec- ond team spots. Pete Porietis, Tom Prichard, and Ed Schoonmaker were selected to play on the All-Ohio team. Gerald Bosh, Abner Thomas, and Terry Hoffman received honorable mention. Tom Prichard was named to the north squad for the North-South Ohio August high school clash at Canton, Ohio. . . . Kneeling-M. Kneeling-M. Long, D. Jones. Standing-R. Gebby, D. Yoakum, L. Roseberry, J. Beaschler. Behind the scenes, managers Larry Roseberry, Jim Beaschler, Don Yoakum, Marvin Long, Roger Gebby, and Dave Jones were always trying to keep the team in tip-top shape. The cheerleaders standing ready to give their essential cries for victory, aided by the high- stepping marching band, have helped to make this sea- son victorious. , Throughout the gridiron year many Harding Prexies were cited at special dinners given by the Booster Club for their outstanding performances. Dinners for the players after each out-of-town game, buying special insurance for each player, and assisting with the pur- chase of equipment are but a few of the valuable lifts from this active club of pigskin promoters. Rotary hailed the Prexies at their recognition luncheon. The llarding grid team was feted during the annual fall sports banquet. Coach Riesen praised the fine work of Tom Prichard and Abner Thomas, co-captains of the 1959 Buckeye Conference co-champions. No guest speaker was invited since the coaches and school ad- ministrators decided wisely to devote the entire pro- gram to the squad members. Pete Porietis, who scored 8 touchdowns in Harding,s 76-6 romp against Fremont, was presented that ball as a special award. Heartiest congratulations must go to coaches Pete Riesen, Al Beach, Don Knodel, Matt Rock, Bob Forshey, and Marion VVaits. With their combined efforts and that of the team, this 1959 football season has been the spring of fall sports. Row 1-D. Pryor, C. Flinehbaugh, 0. Goines, J. Yeager, S.
