CDRCHESTRA . . . jane, An Give us an A, please! Now G! D! That was the signal to twist pegs and pluclc strings as the l-larding orchestra, under the direction ot Mr. l-lomer l-luttman, began to tune up tor rehearsal. The string instruments ol the orchestra are the most ditticult ol all instruments to blend together and to play in tune. Thus the members have to spend many hours in practice in order to achieve the fine quality ot tone displayed at their performances. Their tirst appearance was at the iunior play The Night ot January lothf' when they played the overture and musical interludes. Another similar perlormance THE STRINGS Front row-Phyllis Huffman, Connie Jerew, Peggy McWilliams, Steve Lacey, Virginia Davis, Bill Hart, Anita Kaelber Rcw2 Left-Jo Bayles, Joanna Jacobs, Jenine Rippeyg Right-John Gantt, Barbara Wolfe, Ruth Wilson Row3 Lett-Bunny Cummings, Bonnie Jones, Joann Hart: Right- Connie Hammond, Janice Bevis, John Firstenberger Standing-Mr. Huffman, Mary Robinson, Sally McGrew, JoAnno Born, Virginia Schertzer ! 6- added greatly to the enjoyment ol the senior class play, January Thaw.
