The warning signs along HARDING l-llGl-l-way . . the constant reminders that this is not exclusively a pleasure trip . . . that travel can be so broadening, if we but keep our eyes on the road ahead. put our right toot torward, and push steadily on the accelerator. SENIOR OFFICERS: 7 CLAIRE KOEPPEN Vice President BOB SHORT Treasurer PHYLLIS BADGLEY Secretary JIM COSS President On Kiddie Cars we made the grades . . . as treshrten, we roller-skated down Central Avenue, Vernon Boulevard and Edison Parkway, happy and caretree, with little thought ot the trattic hazards on the busy HARDING l-llGl l-way ahead. At Central, otticers were: Jim Rea, president: Jim l lill, vice president: Ray Phillians, secretary: and Ered Lacey, treasurer. lt was a big night when we presented three one-act comedies, The Ring and the Look, The Vain Ettortf' and Those in Glass Houses. Athletic honors went to Central with their victorious tootball and basketball teams, captained by Jim Coss and Jim Rea. Leaders at Vernon were: Jim Dietrick, president: Ashby l-loover, vice president: Jackie Gittord, secretary: and Tom Ballenger, treasurer. Don't Ever Grow Up, a three-act comedy, gave them their real chance at dramatics. Bob Short captained the tootball team: John Boyles captained the basketball team. ln our sophomore year, the tratiic lanes from Vernon and Central met on the main thoroughfare ot l-JARDING HIGH-way, and chose as their otticers: Jim Rea, president: Jim Hill, vice president: Ann McDaniel, secretary: and Bill Virden, treasurer. We joined with representatives trom Edison to choose our motto: Not to Recede, But to Advance, which translated into Quiver language means Three Speeds Forward. and None in Reverse. Our flower is the red rose, and our colors, black and gold. Otticers at Edison were: Dick Huddle, president, Claire Koeppen, vice president: Lola Barnett, secretary: and Bob Ralston, treasurer.
