lin emnriam A s s A as l F. L. THOMAS, M.D. To Dr. F. L. Thomas, a member ot the Board ot Education and a loyal patron of every student, we pause to pay deep tribute and sincere appreciation tor his taithtul devotion to our schools. We are told that the home, the school, and the church are the three most important institutions in our American lite today. ln Dr. Thomas, we tound an unusual dedication to these three major institutions which en- abled him to make a distinct contribution to community lite. As a father and husband he was devoted to his tamily. The home, which was so dear to him, was a place where the principles ot love, freedom, and democracy could always be tound. To our schools, he gave many hours of service through his eleven years on the Board. l-lis judgment was always important tor it grew out ot a deep sense ot the value ot children and young people and their growth in Christian character. As a churchman, he was outstanding. l-lis abiding taith in God gave to him that rare gift-peace ot mind. It was this sign ot God's love in his lite that enabled him to serve ettectively so many, both day and night in his ministry ot healing. Men, women, young people and children will be intluenced for years to come by the example ot his lite and the tlame ot his Christian spirit. The following lines ot one ot Dr. Thomas' tavorite songs give the secret to his usetul Christian lite: MY GOD AND I My God and l will go tor aye together We'll walk and talk and jest as good friends do This earth will pass and with it common trifles But God and l will go unendingly. -Author Unlcnown -Written by Margaret l-lutfman I

.jwlar ing ig .gzlzoof The management of schools has always been complicated: but through seventy-five long years, each year has brought new problems and each time the leaders of our school system have met them with new solutions. Today these men have solved for us the veteran problems, and have planned for us new and better schools. With the promise of new schools to come, they have faced together crowded conditions and worlced them out the best they could. Complexities have constantly arisen but soon they have been talcen care of by the administrators of our school system, who have their eye on us and have our futures in mind. rw: , ' ' fr .,f-'f??
