Northeast clinched the Capitol conference crown with a third quarter spree that turned Harding fans from one kind of spirit to another. The Vikings took the opening kickoff and began a march which was stopped when Eagle safetyrnan Iay Galt grabbed a Northeast fumble and went 32 yards to the Viking 38. Phil Glenn proceeded to leave the Viking defense behind as he rambled all the way to the eight before being pulled down. Three plays later, however, a goal line fumble prevented a Harding touchdown. The Vikings also threatened as they moved to the Eagle 14 before running out of downs. The half ended without either team scoring. In the third quarter Iohn Neaves hit Glenn for a 16- yard gain, and it looked as if Harding was on the march. But on the next play Northeast intercepted and went all the way to start the rally which handed them the cham- pionship. It took only 58 more seconds for the Norsemen to block an Eagle quick-kick and carry it into the end zone for the tally which sewed it up. Harding scored its lone touchdown when Neaves surprised everyone with a 29-yard gallop around right end. Kem Meyer 1489, Chip Clark l4l7, and Dennis Adams H323 pile up at midfield.
