Despite a 45-yard pass from Phil Glenn to Roy Smith in the opening minutes, Harding wasn't able to score un- til Glenn went over from nine ards out y . A 76-yard twisting run by Iohn Neaves started a 24- point outburst in the second quarter. Neaves scored an- other touchdown four minutes later and Glenn added four extra points. Reserve quarterback Hilliard Shackford tallied and kept to convert in the last two minutes of the half. An interception by Earl Ingram set up the next score early in the second half, and Neaves scored again on a 32-yard run. The lone Bluejay tally came early in the fourth quarter on a 62-yard pass play. The Eagles bounded back quickly with Charles Mugg and Iay Galt breaking into the scoring column. riumph of the season H,46'0!!lf6' 2? 6'f!VfH,4l 0 The rain was Harding's chief opponent as the Eagles corn- pletely outclassed Central on the soggy Taft Stadium turf. Fullback Guy Iones took off fast for Harding with a 65- yard run on the second play from scrimmage. A Cardinal in- terception, however, erased the chance for a quick lead. A pass from the Central 18 found Iohn Neaves wide open a short while later, and he scored easily. A booming 54-yard punt set up the second Eagle tally near the end of the first half. The Cardinals had worked their way out to their 22 when Iay Galt grabbed a wild pass on the 30 and went all the way. The Eagle second unit played most of the fourth quarter and they contributed six points near the end of the game. After a trade of fumbles at the Cardinal 20, Bruce Holmes raced 14 yards and quarterback Hilliard Shackford kept for the touchdown. HAHUXXV6' 34 6714.9 .YHV 6' Harding scored the first three times it got the ball and romped to an easy win over Classen. Iohn Neaves ran wild as he averaged over 10 yards a carry. One of his scampers was good for a 63-yard touchdown. The Eagles scored the first time when they were only 5:30 into the open- ing quarter. Charles Mugg climaxed a 65-yard drive as he hit Phil Glenn with a 28-yard pass. In less than three minutes Neaves took off on his long jaunt, followed by a 72-yard scoring drive. From this point, Classen found it impossible to catch Harding, and the Eagles continued to run wild. Harding played a slashing ground game and never really found it nec- essary to take to the air.
