HAHUXXV6' 0 fl!06'fHWf5'f?? In the second game of what is rapidly becoming a fierce rivalry, Northwest out-defensed the Eagles for three quarters and then turned on the scoring steam. The Eagles' battle against the best class AA team in Oklahoma was hampered by driving rains which didn't stop until long after the game was over: showers held the crowd down to a sparse 200. Despite a defense which didn't allow Harding a first down during the opening half, the Knights led by only 8-O at the beginning of the third quarter. Late in the game, Northwest added two more touchdowns and a conversion, using their sparkling pass attack. Although the rain made it tough to hang onto the ball, several short tosses took their toll and ran up the score. Harding was able to make yardage only in the final minutes. Hilliard Shacktord leaves the game after only a few minutes ot muddy action. The scoreboard shows Harding's

riumph of the season H,46'0!!lf6' 2? 6'f!VfH,4l 0 The rain was Harding's chief opponent as the Eagles corn- pletely outclassed Central on the soggy Taft Stadium turf. Fullback Guy Iones took off fast for Harding with a 65- yard run on the second play from scrimmage. A Cardinal in- terception, however, erased the chance for a quick lead. A pass from the Central 18 found Iohn Neaves wide open a short while later, and he scored easily. A booming 54-yard punt set up the second Eagle tally near the end of the first half. The Cardinals had worked their way out to their 22 when Iay Galt grabbed a wild pass on the 30 and went all the way. The Eagle second unit played most of the fourth quarter and they contributed six points near the end of the game. After a trade of fumbles at the Cardinal 20, Bruce Holmes raced 14 yards and quarterback Hilliard Shackford kept for the touchdown.
