HABDINC 22 In the opening game of the 1958 football season, the Harding Eagles rallied in the last half to defeat an under- rated Southeast team. After being picked as strong fa- vorites to win the game, the Eagles found themselves going uphill most of the way. Southeast scored early in each of the first two quarters, but Harding was able to make only one touchdown in that amount of time. SOUTHEAST 16 The second half, however, was a different story. Return- ing from the halftime break, the Eagles showed new de- termination. Their offensive plays began to work with precision, and their defense never gave Southeast another chance. This game marked the beginning of another fine foot- ball season for Harding.
