In our hearts is the deepest gratitude for the sacrifices which they are making that tomorrow we may enjoy life in a never-ending peace. To these boys, fighting for a nation conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition- that all men are created equal the Senior Class of Harding High School dedi- cates the 1944 ACORN. PUHEWURD 'IHIGH SCHOOL days are the happiest days. Associations of six years are not easily forgotten but the memories of these years become less vivid as we become engrossed in the happenings of the world. The faces of our classmates may become strangers and events once cherished may fade from our memory unless there is a link with the past. To provide this lin-k, to record the happiest days, is the goal of the ACORN. If this goal is attained, the staff will have been recompensed for many hours of labor. The history of the school is recorded in pictures of the faculty, leaders of organization-s, classes, and athletic teams. Complementing the academic and athletic programs are snapshots of dances, games, club parties, and assemblies. Together with these outstanding people and events go per- sonal memories and friendships particularly treasured since the students during these years of confict look to Harding, their Alma Mater, to preserve for them ideals, traditions, and memories. In gathering material for this ACORN, we have been assisted by Mrs. Mackey, who has acted as sponsor for this publication. Together with Mrs. Mackey, we wish to thank Mr. Crichton, and the staff of the Observer Printing House, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Cauthen, an-d the entire staff of the Dunbar Studio for their patience and assistance in helping with the publication of this yearbook. In spite of the diffi- culties involved because of the war, these people have labored untiringly to help the staff publish the 1944 ACORN. P ge Four
