SEARCH FOR GOD . . . as time passes, the fully mature man realizes more and more the key to life, a personal relationship with God . . . he studies, he prays, and he warships the One he loves . . . he learns to serve not be served, to love as well as be loved . . . suddenly the plea of New Testament Christianity becomes a deeper reality to him in a simple life of service and dedication . . . his future holds a certain freshness through his faith and his life begins to possess a new meaning and purpose . . . to fear God and keep His cummundments . . . to have life and have it abundantly. His life no longer cries with skepticism and despair, but exhibits the hope found in God . . . the belief that all things work for the good of those that love the Lord . . . he learns that the only way to cure the Illnesses and barriers of his own society is to first solve the Individual problems of greed, hatred, lust, and sin In himself and then in others . . . through the power ofGod . . . but above all, with the old of the Christian environment that Harding affords, he recognizes that his search must lead hlm to God.

You were one of the first faculty members we heard about upon entering Harding College, because of your intense scholarship and and dedicated Christian service. You hova demonstrated your learning abilities through such coltege experiences as independentty teaming elementary Greek and later breezing through the doctoral requirements in Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and German. You have since so insptred others with your balanced mixture of knowledge, sincerity, and wit that you received the Outstanding Young Teacher Award in 1966 and the Disttnguished Teacher Award of 1970. You have dedicated yourself to the Christian service of teaching others of God and His wilt for men, through the college classroom, the pulpit, the church Bible class, and the personal relationships of a Christian friend. You have proven the compatibility of scholarship and Chrtstionity, of reason and faith. Above olJ, you have directed the search of countless hundreds toward God.
