Hardingr is a school that has been built on hnpos, dreams, and sacrifices. In 1922 Christians in Arkansas t-slahlishod Arkansas Christian College at Morriltnn. After two years this junior culloge and annther- Harper College, merged to form a senior institution, which was to he called Harding College. In 19.54 I-lardirig College moved from Mar- riltnn tn Searcy, where tho facilities at Galloway College were available. Charles Grey Pimor1 a west Tonncssoan who graduated from the Bells High School in 1931, enrolled as a freshman in Harding College in the fall nf 1955 after working two years on a farm. In addition to arllieving a gnnd academic record, he participated oxtcnsively in oxtra-cur- ricular activitivs. He was business manager of the Bison his, junim' year and of the Pvti! Ivan his senior year1 a member of tho Sub-T 16 club, and a sprinter on the Lrack team. Following his graduation from Harding with a major in mathematics in the spring of 1937, he taught elementary school in Missouri one year befnre doing graduate study at. George Peabody College on a fvllnwship. After teaching high school malhnmalit's fur five years, he became principal nf tho Grove High School in Paris, Tenn. and served six years hefurc returning to Harding in 1950. In 1110 spring of 1.058 Professor Pitnor mar- ried Mary Nval. nm- of his Harding classmates. Mrs. Pitnor sprvos as director of guidamte and counselling fur the Soarcy school system. Thvy have one dnughlvr. Martha. who is in lhe eighth grade. Since he was a mlloge student, ProFOSSc'nr Pit ner has prvarhod regularly and he is currently preaching fur the church in Pangbum. He is a member uf tho. Natinnal Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Soarcy Lions Club.
