Dr. I. N. Armstrong, then on the faculty at Bowling Green, resigned ht. position there to become president of the new schoott The locating of the college at Odessa makes an interesting storv. A. Gardner, one of the founders of the school was interested in having the sch locate near chrcxgould. Arkansas. He offered thirtyvtive acres of land for t' school's use. However, when the people at Odessa heard of plans for t school, they were willing to provide buildings already prepared. Consequenll the second step toward Herding College began cat Odessa, Missouri. In the fall 01 1905 when the doors of the new school were first open there were approximately titty boarding students and fifty local students. R. C. Bell, 3 F. Rhodes. R. N. Gardner. cmd Woodson Harding Armstronf were on the faculty of eleven members. Failing health caused Dr. Armstrong to resign as president of the ssh , after the Iirst two years. He was successded by H N. Gardner. who was pr dent for eight years. Doors were closed in 1915 cmd support was thrown to the next step tow Harding College which was at Cordell. Oklahoma.
