653.0 the Students of Wading Gollego T1; you amt tho studont butlios 01' former yours Harding Cullugv uwvs more for its almost unparallctl success than to any other group of helpers in all the world. W't- doubt if any other institution has ever hall more sincerely loyal student bodies than Harding College has had in its six yeam ul' existence. in every emergency, after first making our nm-tl known to God. we have gum: to you and we have never becn turned away. Our gratitude is withuut nwasure. Harding College has made a most interesting history. Financially it has always becn ml the rocks, never being abh- ut the bcginning of any year to see its way to the end; but its management has 'ach limo trusted in God and each time the victory has been all but startling. Through those six years our entire cuuntry has been struggling in what might alnmst be called a money panic. Institutions of imrning have boon pressed as never before by tho inoxurablc- requiroIm-nts ul' ucrvtliting agcncics. which require- ments are :ihnost vntirvly basvd on money. However, Hunting: Cullcgc is closing l'IL'l' sixth war with tht- highest and firlm-st rating as am educational institution that it has PVt't' enjuycd. Yes, I knnw it is luck to those who Junk on. but in us who knuw and believe in Jehovah the explanation is SllilPlD. Th0 faith that has climbed the Alps beyond which Italy has lain has had its sent in ynur faculty. Do you I'unu-mber Robert E. Lee and his starving army ran army that lived for numjhs 0n 'tpurchul corn, or General Marion who invited the English m-m-ml to dim: with him with nnthing to offer but a potato served upon a piece of bark? For a greater cause than oithcr LPNs or Marion's ynur faculty has lived on u crustn that Harding College might livv and attain untn its high rating. They hiIVL' imh-cd been tools for Christ's sake. Thvrot'm'u we are closing this siXth yL-zlr with the strungrst teaching force. illltl with the must pult'lliltll student hotly the institution tuis ever halt. The general financial condition of Harding Cnllvgo it; tho bust in its history. Its rating, as stated above, among cdu 'utionul instilutinns is tho firnwst and highest it has over hzul. This uu-uns' that yuur credits, yuur tliplunms, and yuur dcgrcvs au- tho safest over secured in those halls; but it mums more than this: It means vvcry credit carnal and every degree conferred in the six wars have been strengthened amt increased in value, So, in this final work we bring to you two special concerns that lie on our hearts and on the hearts of your faculty. First 01' all there is :In imlvbtvtlncss that hangs about the neck 01' qu'dim,r Col- lege like a mill-stonc. This slune must he cut loose that this gr at service may g0 on, free and unhamnurcd. The other care is the luck of an adequate support for yuur faculty. These teachers must have more than a crust on which to live. In the lust analysis this means cure for cnduwmcut, for there is no other safe support for such an institution as Harding College. But till then we must take care of this problem by direct donations for this purpose. These two-thu indvbtcdncsa and adequate faculty support are our problems. Wu must wake up to the seriousness of both. The very life of the institution is involved. So we appeal to you to help us win :1 triumphant victory over thew our deadly enemies. In God we trust! BROTHER AND SISTER ARMSTRONG.
