The Home Economics Department worked to give high school girls a background of knowl- edge in the skills of homemaking and manage- ment. This included basics in cooking, sewing and budgeting. Girls found the course both challenging and quite interesting. The work of a librarian includes not only shelving books but also keeping accurate records. As dresses were fitted, Mrs. Batey helped each girl find the best way of completing her individual garment.
