The QS-tudent Council is an organii' zation made up of two representatives, a boy and a girl, from each of the classes, nine through twelve. Four of- ficers are elected at the end of each school term to serve the next year. Throughout the year the Council spon- sors many projects such as the kick- off party at the beginning of school, the Lukemia Drive and the Homecoming exhibits. 014 the ,flflrwe The student council serves as a link between the stu- dent body and the faculgy by meeting regularly to plan and discuss school unctions. ! 0 H 1 Front row: Ann Nabors, Van Sisco. The suggestion box is one method of communication. The members discuss these suggestions and present them to the faculty. The Student Council also helps to build leadership. 23

Alan Moltz, president, has been at tending MHA three years. He is an active member of the Key Club, A Cappella Chorus, and the H Club. Alan is serving as chaplain of the Mem phis Association of Student Council. Active in almost every student ac- tivity, Danny Joiner is a perfect ex- ample of student leadership., Danny, vice-president is always ready to vol- unteer for any project. Lynn McKinney, secretary of the Student Council, has the outgoing per- sonality necessary to get along with everyone. A new system was started at MHA this year which is used for the purpose of keeping order on campus. This sys- tem consists of a student court and of- ficers Who give tickets. At the begin- ning of the year a Commissioner of Traffic and a Commissioner of Health Were elected by the student council who in turn appointed three officers under them to keep order. The three Health Officers are to make sure that students do not clutter the halls, the restrooms of the cafeteria. The three Traffic Commissioners controlthe flow' of traffic in the halls and make sure that there is no loitering or scuf- fling.
