That mark was HSU’s best record in almost a decade, and the 7-7 TAAC record was HSU's best ever in the league. Several individuals turned in outstand- ing performances. Senior Byron Strickland was a second-team All-TAAC honorable mention. The Cowgirls ended with a 7-21 record for the season, but that does not indicate the way the team hustled throughout the year. Although the team's 21-15 record was not as good as the year before, the Cowgirls, who competed in both the NAIA and NCAA, captured the NAIA District title as Mcllroy and Heath were named to the all-tourney team. Mcllroy was also All- OCAC and Player of the Week while Heath was a Player of the Week in the Shelley Heath knocks one by Texas Wesleyan for the kill. The on the first team by teammates Cliff Cowboys captured the TAAC Cowboys dominated the all- McAtee, Jon Cook and Kenny volleyball championship. Another HSU drive goes booming down the fairway Taylor Earns All-TAAC Honors Led by Brett Taylor, the golf team made tremendous strides during the season. Taylor, playing his first year at HSU, climaxed an outstanding season by finishing in the top 10 at the TAAC tournament to earn all-conference honors. Soccer Reaches District Final Although the 1984-85 HSU soccer team finished with only a 9-9-2 record, the Cowboys still reached the championship game of the NAIA District VIII Tournament. Playing one of the toughest schedules in the country, the Cowboys faced nationally-ranked opponents almost Juniors Charles Okoye and Owen Chong, along with sophomore Lin Powell were named to the All-TAAC team, each for the second year in a Junior fullback Michael Hamlet keeps his eye on the ball as a pair of defenders move in.
