armers of America, or FFA as it is wn, is the national organization for j, agricultural education in public ools under the provisions of the National ucation Acts. rgral part of the program of agricultural the public school system of America, the become well known in recent years. No ji student organization enjoys greater freedom self-government under adult counsel and guidance, than the Future Farmers of America. Organized in November 1928, it has served to motivate and vitalize the systematic instruction offered to students of agricultural education, and to provide further training in farmer-business-citi zenship. The FFA is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian farm youth organization, however, all organizations must have funds with which to operate. Therefore, the Will Reynolds Chapter of the Future Farmers of America sponsored a Chapter Sweetheart Contest, and sold concessions at H.R.M.S. basketball games as fund raising projects. Through these activities the FFA members have experienced feelings of honesty and fair-play in accomplishing a worthwhile goal. The Will Reynolds FFA Chapter at Hardin Reynolds is one of the nine school chapters that comprise the Fairystone Federation of the FFA. Lloyd Hopkins, the chapter Reporter, also holds the office of Sentinel in the Federation. Our chapter also participated in the Federation Forestry Contest in which we placed seventh. These contests give students a chance to compete with students their own age for honors that are given by the National Organization. This competition gives students a desire to win, but also instills in them the rewards reaped by fair-play. FFA Officers: (KNEELING) Eddie Lawrence, Sentinel; Robert Shockley, President; (STANDING) Lloyd Hopkins, Reporter; Mr. Harper, Advisor; Larry Wray, Vice-President; Gerald Turner, Secretary Mr. Harper presides over the FFA at each meeting.
