Polk discusses a recipe with Chris Tyler. Terrance Thomas samples his banana split. ln August officers of Future Homemakers of America attended the Leadership Conference at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. The members held a BYOB lthat's banana, not bottlel get- acquainted party in September. The refreshments were, of course, banana splits. Officers were installed in October. There was also a dinner prepared for parents. The group sponsored the annual Jingle Bell Ball at Christmas. Mrs. Marie Crandall demonstrated corsage making, and the members tried their hand with arranging flowers. During annual FHA Week, there were activities each day for home, school, and community. These included Teacher Appreciation Day and a visit to the nursing home in Kountze. Many members enjoyed a trip to the Fat Stock Show in Houston. Mrs. Jane White of Silsbee presented a program on handwriting analysis in March. Everyone enjoyed the pizza party in April. One of the most interesting meetings of the year featured guest speakers Jo Ann Wilson and Angie Hardt of Finishing Touches Modeling School. They demonstrated proper makup and modeling techniques.
