U , Speech And Drama Club Encourages Acting Anc Speaking Abilities The year started with a performance of Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology. The drama class chipped in to do the technical work for the choir's musical, Christmas on Angel Street. They also helped the choir with a show at the elementary school. One-Act Play Cast Performs Persephone At l District This year Hardin-Jefferson performed Persephone at the UlL One-Act Play contest. The play was written by Ford Ainsworth, a high school teacher, especially for UlL contests and was adapted from the Greek myth which explains the seasons. Many hilarious moments occur when Hades lTodd Zimbeckl has to explain to Demeter lAndrea Bronsonj why he kidnapped her daughter Persephone llithonda l.eDouxJ. The dead in Hades lKelly Nolan, Barbara Shields, Erika Adams, Tommy Low, Mason Ball, Karen Michulka, and Shonda Haynesl are ready to revolt because Persephone and the supposedly vicious dog Cerberus lClint Robinsonl are playing catch with the bones of the dead. Hermes lSteve Sabrsulal appears on the scene to save the day. All ends well when Hades and Persephone realize they love each other. invaluable backstage assistance was provided by Roxanne Kibodeaux. Shonda Haynes reads the prologue. Andrea Bronson and Barbara Shields are with two ot the dead. Charon lBarbara Shieldsl speaks to Hades about Persephone.
