When finished it will be a tribute to the people who worked for many years to accomplish that goal. It will insure a safe and sanitary place to swim for school children and all people of our community for many years. Good luck to the graduating seniors and best wishes to all other students in their educational endeavor. Joseph V. Koebbe Chairman Board of Trustee School Board Standing up LtoR: Donald Beary, Harvey Pitsch, Jim Herbal, Wayne Moccasin, Seated LtoR: Chairman of Board Joseph V. Keobbe, and Lambert Vanderslool Jr. ADMINISTRATION Principal’s Message Another year has passed us by and 1 hope that it has proved to be rewarding for each of you. We at Hardin High School, can be proud of who we are, what we have and what we’ve accomplished. It takes hard work and it takes all of us working together to achieve success. Best wishes to all of you, and particularily to the members of the Class of ‘86’. Don Gilbertson Vice Principal’s Message Someone once said that “our memories are our own personal reflections of the good and bad experience of our life.” As we go through another year, and for the seniors your last year, let us all strive to build good happy memories. 1 encourage everyone to become involved in activities and clubs because through our involvement we establish long and lasting friendships and memories. 1 am looking forward to a good productive year where we all can grow and become more aware of ourselves and come a few steps closer to reaching our goals in life. Kim Anderson Superintendent’s Message Any school is only as strong as the individual students. All students have talents, talents that may vary a great deal. The diversity of talents adds to the strength of the school. Hardin High School is blessed with a talented student body. We hope that your classes and your activities help each of you develop your individual talents. You and the school will then be stronger. Be proud, grow stronger. Our school needs your strength. Homecoming 1985, was a celebration. For the students, faculty, and staff of Hardin High School, it was a chance to celebrate and prepare for the Homecoming Game Friday night. This celebration took the forms of ways for the people involved to show their spirit during the five days of Spirit Week. On Monday the school was infested with Nerds. The next day the school was invaded with New Wavers. Wednesday was the only day the students were allowed to wear Hats and Shades. The students wore Crazy and Farout clothes on Thursday. Friday was the day when students and faculty showed how much spirit they have on supporting the Bulldogs by wearing Orange and Black. HOW BOB HARDIN HIGH HOME OF THE mu i nnn ? 26 Juniors celebrated first place with their awesome float. Sophomores took second. Seniors took third and Freshman took fourth. The theme for the floats was “Let the good times role” and had to have something to do with cartoons. Top Left are the Freshman candidates Patty Anderson and Tom Young. They found a reason to celebrate by walking down the field. On the top right is a quick glimpse of the band, in which Rick Gable is entertaining the girls. Volleyball Takes Third in State The Volleyball team took first at the Eastern “A” Divisional tournament held here in Hardin, which gave the team a chance at the State title. There were ten teams in the Eastern Division that participated. This year the conference championship is shared by two teams—the Colstrip Fillies and the Hardin Bulldogs. Both team have a record of 12-4. During the tournament Hardin had to come back and be victorious against Central twice for the honor of being Divisional Champs. The State Class “A” Volleyball Tournament was held at Laurel on March 14-15. The schools that represented the Eastern Conference were Hardin, Billings Central, Livingston, and Laurel. The teams that represented the Western Conference were Dillion, Whitefish, Butte Central, and Stevensville. Hardin took third at State, which was pretty good, considering that this was only their first year in Divisional Volleyball. “CONGRATULATIONS” CELEBRATE Elliot Mt. FFA FUTURE FFA, has been keeping themselves pretty busy. In the early part of the year, they went on a trip to Denver, Colorado, to see the Denver Stock Show. They took the bronze, which is third, at the Bozeman winter Fair. At Nile, they placed second. So FFA has plenty of reason to Celebrate this year! At District, which was held in Colstrip, they received third in farm and ranch management. State is in Bozeman, coming up in April. The FFA members find one more way to Celebrate, by placing the American flag downtown, on every patriotic holiday. Through AFS, students from South Africa, Cyprus, and Brazil have come to live with families in the Hardin area; they have attended Hardin High School for a year and they have learned about, and grown, within our community. Families and Hardin High School students learn about different customs and ideas and gain a new understanding and closeness. Our local Hardin High School AFS Club is an active organization sponsoring, each spring, an annual fund raiser. Our local AFS organization also sponsored Rhonda Sprenger, 1984 HHS graduate, in the summer exchange program to Japan. 85 DECA Clockwise: J. Swift, C. Aberle, D. Vandersloot, L. Zaic, T. Young, B. Annual Rep. for Student Council The 1985-86 yearbook was quite a success. The annual staff worked very hard all through the year. Our staff consisted of 11 Juniors, 2 Sophomores, and 3 Seniors. Our goals for the year were to have more pictures and more exciting copy. Our biggest goal was to have the best yearbook ever. We hope that we have succeeded. We’d like to recognize Athena Kuntz and the rest of the people down at the Hardin Herald for their help and support. Thanks for helping us Celebrate our year with yearbook! Top row, LtoR: M.
