Students, teachers and administrators and people of our community seem to have a good attitude about our schools. There is a genuine desire for providing quality education. Although this desire is not something new. There appears to be a renewed emphasis on providing the best education possible for our youth. The children of our community do richly deserve and desperately need the best education we can give them. The entire school community gives of themselves year after year to achieve this purpose. This year let us be thankful for excellence in our school system. The Board of Trustees will continue to the best of their ability, to provide the necessary tools, facilities and staff to insure excellence in education to all children of our school districts. Hopefully you can look back on the past twelve years as productive and memorable times. Good luck and may the future bring the best to you all. I hope all of you at Hardin High have enjoyed your year and have met some of your personal goals and set new goals for the future. Hardwork and dedication will make us all better citizens and Hardin High School a better system. Cherish these times and get involved in as much as you can-time passes you by quickly. Good luck. Don Gilbertson Principal Superintendent’s Message Individual memories built with pride always make proud schools. Hardin High School provides many opportunities to form new memories. Memories that should be strong with pride. Pride in a school must be built upon a foundation of many things. Extracurricular activities, classes, dances, and student organizations are all sources for building blocks of pride. • As each of you adds to your memories, the pride in Hardin High School will be stronger. Build yourselves and we will all be proud. Rod Svee Vice Principal’s Message My second year in Hardin High School has been an exciting and rewarding year. It excites me to see the great strides that has been achieved through you, the student body, in all areas of interest. I am proud to say that 1 am a part of Hardin High School, but most of all I am proud to be directly associated with the students of this school. Seniors, be proud of where you came from, and underclassmen look forward to making next year even better. Respectfully yours, Kim Anderson 5 Keeping the building clean takes a Couch ojClass What a mess this building can become by the end of the day or after a basketball game, but Head Cifctodian Harold Timmons and his assistants Patty Davis and Ramone Gonzales always have it whipped back into, shape and ready to go for the new day. I’m proud of Jeannie’s progress in Business Math. Improvement is a daily oc-curance with Jeannie and a welcomed sight to any eyes. Thank you Jeannie for giving us both the chance to learn from each other and the chance to improve ourselves. a touch of class I have a personal belief that our life on earth is a kind of test. The test is in the form of challenges to overcome adversity. How we handle this adversity or how we rise to the challenge is a personal statement of the kind of individual we are. How strong is your character? In correlation w'ith this belief, Jeannie Schaak has made a tremendous statement of her personal character. She had experts tell her that she would be an invalid the rest of her life. Now every time Jeannie completes a workout, walks around the gym or types on a computer, she is over coming this adversity. It is very rewarding for me to be able to work with young people who are not afraid of rising to the challenges life offers, however gruesome. We can all learn a lesson from Jeannie. It would be real easy for her to become a recluse, to sit around and feel sorry for herself. But she doesn’t. Instead, she refuses self-pity and is determined not to allow limitations to be placed on her. As a result, she has and is going to continue to overcome things that experts said would not happen. Cross Country a touch of class _ CJhird in State The Hardin High Cross Country boys’ and girls’ teams were outstanding this year as they outdistanced their competitors by posting third and fourth place finishes among the teams competing at the State Cross Country meet in Butte. Senior Barry Real Bird placed fourth to pace the boys and freshman Suzanne Enos took second to lead the girls to their high finishes. Math Club Hardin Mathematics Club has gained strength during the last 3 years of its existence. This year (1985) Hardin Math Club hosted an Invitational Mathematics competition, in which area schools participated. Miles City and Joliet schools earned the honors of being the top teams. Hardin Math Club members earned many individual Commendations for their Fine performances. In March 1985, the club members participated in the Regional Math Competition organized by the Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics. According to the unofficial results, the Hardin Math teams were on top in the competition. The interest in Mathematics is growing and the membership is planning on participating in Hardin Math Science Fair this year. 84 Standing Left to Right: Joe Reichart, Carl Buechler, Dan Redden, Dale Davisson, David Old Elk. The 85 staff was made up of six Juniors and one Freshman, none of whom had ever put a year together before. We found we had much to learn and much to do before the year was over. This year we took on eight more color pages and set our own type at the Hardin Herald. We tried very hard to include everyone in the yearbook, but we know there are some we missed. Some of our goals this year were to have better pictures in composition, content and contrasts. We think we have come close to this one. Another goal was to include more color, (which we did,) include more candids and put the yearbook in a sequential order. Our big goal was to pay for the yearbook and have a little left over next year to use on the 86 Bulldog. The ultimate goal: to publish a yearbook that you, the students are happy with. Thanks to Joyce Goss and the rest of the Hardin Herald for all the help you gave us.
