We are living in a fascinating period. Education oppor- tunities are all about us. Grasp them with determination. LURA P. STRAND County Superintendent of Schools In our democracy, public schools were established to help realize the American dream of a nation where every individual would have the opportunity to fulfill his potentialities. As teachers we must be constantly aware of what we do, so that we do not align ourselves with forces that unwittingly tend to destroy rather than to promote these democratic ideals. There arc no magic formulas in the educational learning process, rather it is in the end, the day to day influence of the teacher that matters. The accumulation of countless little things a teacher does gives meaning to the pupils school experience and has a far more powerful impact on what they learn and become than we sometimes recognize. Superintendent H. R. SALYER 1
