Through this medium, we wish to preserve his memory in the hearts of all who knew him. 3 We are living in a fascinating period. Education oppor- tunities are all about us. Grasp them with determination. LURA P. STRAND County Superintendent of Schools In our democracy, public schools were established to help realize the American dream of a nation where every individual would have the opportunity to fulfill his potentialities. As teachers we must be constantly aware of what we do, so that we do not align ourselves with forces that unwittingly tend to destroy rather than to promote these democratic ideals. There arc no magic formulas in the educational learning process, rather it is in the end, the day to day influence of the teacher that matters. The accumulation of countless little things a teacher does gives meaning to the pupils school experience and has a far more powerful impact on what they learn and become than we sometimes recognize. Accompanying her is world-famous newswoman, BETTY ABELL, who is to record the happenings of the journey. First stop will be in Las Vegas where we find ROY SCHMIDT and JIM NETZ running the famous Zodiac 12 Club. Here, too, is MISS CLAUDEAN NAYLOR who was just chosen Miss Venus 1980. EDWIN OBIE and REUBEN STOBAUGH are successful businessmen frequenting the Zodiac 12 Club. Ten seconds later, we are at the King Ranch in Texas, where we find ROSALIE LACKMAN and HARRY SEDER who own the largest and most well-known string of broncs and rodeo stock in the universe, with WAYNE MOCCASIN as their business manager efficiently operating their business offices throughout the universe. With GILBERT LAUTT, their star rodeo clown, we see ex-stewardess JANICE FLEGIER now reigning rodeo queen at Madison Square Garden. On our way from Texas to Florida, we see ex-millionaire ROGER WAGNER now down to his last barrel (which he is using for clothing). Flying beside our rocket is a TWA plane with stewardess JUDY HARRIS serving a cocktail to CONNIE WARREN, Mother of the Year, and tomato juice to Connie's agent, DON HUMPHREY, a former member of A. A. Accompanying Connie are her six children. Our next stop is Palm Beach where we transfer the passengers of the plane to our rocket. SHARON CURRY, a world-famous bubble gum blower, removes herself from her bubble gum long enough to join our party. At Frankfurt. Germany we see Colonel MARILYN GJERDE with her chauffeurs (jeep drivers) Privates ROBERT SIEFERT and MIKE FISHER whom she has retrieved from a three-night A.W.O. L. tour of France, Germany and Italy. JOANN ELLIOTT, a well-known art instructor, joined the three in Italy and returned with them to Germany. From Germany we travel to Russia where we pick up diplomats SYDNEY ZEILER and KAY TORSKE who have just returned from having tea with Nikita. On our trip back to the United States we come to a screeching halt over the Atlantic, where, on a Navy destroyer we find LARRY MUHLBEIER swabbing the decks. Arriving in New York, the men head for the World Champion Wrestling match soon to start. The wrestlers are the challenger, TERRY PLATZ, and the champion, FLOYD LINK, who are trying out the HZOPH invented by TONY HENNING. The ladies visit the famous Look Lovely Beauty Salon jointly owned by NEITA TORSKE and ANNITA VALDEZ. Entering the salon, they find SANDRA TRITSCHLER, a home economics teacher receiving her daily manicure. Soon LARRY CLAWSON and EVERETT DAVIS join us. They were just fired from their jobs at the fish hatchery because of disappearing fish. As we enter Rochester, Minnesota, we find CHARLES LUNDBERG at the Mayo Clinic eagerly waiting to remove all of our gizzards. His assistant is none other than BARBARA FELLER. Also at the clinic, we find ROBERT PINKERTON, a prominent phychiatrist, trying to find out why LEROY LINK has no ambition. 126 MARY LOU RICKARD, head physical therapist, is trying to ease the tired muscles of JUDY ALLEN, world-famous ski champion, who has just broken the world's record for skiing across the Mohave desert. Now we make our way to Denver, Colorado, where EDDIE GUY, President of Safeways, Inc. , and his secretary, BEVERLY BENZEL, are trying to figure out where they are going to get more Gold Bond Stamps. Stopping at the State Music Meet, we find adjudicator LOU SLATER listening to a duet by SELMA SCHMIDT and KEN GRESS. RAYMOND MARTINEZ, a night watchman at the Holly Sugar Factory, and his family now reside here. In Idaho, we find JIM EGGART still trying to figure out how to grow dirt. Looking in the bam, we discover WILLARD SCOTT at his favorite pastime, loafing. Down the road is PEARL HERT fixing her daughter, Lee Roya's Hair. Off we go again, destination: Mexico and the JAMES' El Rancho where we are not surprised to see KATIE teaching her four children the Mexican Hat Dance. Vacationing at the rancho are the second honeymooners, retired coach NELSON WALLACE and MARY HOGAN WALLACE. From Mexico to Hollywood where JOANN KEELER is fixing GERALDINE STEINMETZ's hair. Geraldine has finally achieved her life's ambition, to become a secretary and marry her boss, who was JOHNNY SIMS. But he too has achieved his life's ambition, to lead a single life, after four wives. Going a little out of our way, we stop in Washington, D.C. , where we find the former DEANNA PICKETT still gazing starry-eyed at the changing of the Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Getting back into orbit, we continue to Alaska. JANIE MAACK BROWN is teaching CAROLYN SAMUELSON WEINBERG’S children; also her own. Dropping down to Billings, Montana, we pick up LINDA CRISWELL. When we arrive we find her sitting on the garbage can in an alley patiently waiting (as usual) for the garbage man. (D.S.) At St. X. we find WAYNE SEDER, after twenty years of hard work, still trying to grow something on his farm. JERRY BECKER is found at Lodge Grass changing pins in his 36-alley bowling center. Finally, we come to our last stop on earth, Hardin, Montana. Here we find quite a few of our class. They are: HARVEY WARREN, the most efficient farmer in trie state; LORETTA DORN FLACK and her maid, JUDY BESEL, on the Flack Chicken Ranch; BONNIE FRICKLE RUEGAMER, driving a new 1980 Thunderbird, a gift from her husband on their 20th anniversary; GARLAND PLENTY HOOPS, still trying to coach a state championship winning team. He is coaching the H.H.A. team and they aren't doing as well as the '60 team. As we go back to the school we find janitor, IVEN ABELL, diligently waxing the floor of the gym of the old 1960 high school. As we are ready to leave, AL HUMPHREY comes racing up to the rocket. He's been hiding so he could be the last man to the moon. Landing on the moon we find our last, but not least, member, BILL KOGOLSHAK, happily drawing weird monsters. 127 Mission accomplished! Reunion of the 1960 Class. TAYLOR PUBLISHING COMPANY
