Rough seas were encountered around the Semester Exam Islands where three crewmen perished in the raging waters. Under the guidance of Admirals Rimel and Rustad we made port in May 1946, as the first lap of the journey ended. A.D. 1946-1947 September 1946-After a brief shore leave we again boarded the ship with Captain Kronmiller and Lieutenant Smith at the helm. Under sealed orders from Kleis and Hooten, Admirals of the Fleet, we undertook “Operation Whitewash” and stormed the stronghold of the “H“, outwitting those much experienced sailors, the Seniors. When we crossed the equator, we were initiated into the Clan of Neptune, “Dogpatch Style, “ and a truce was declared between the rival fleets. We finished half our journey with new crew members rescued from uncivilized lands. A.D. 1947-1948 September 1947-We hoisted sail flying the “Jolly Roger.” The new commanding officers were DeVore and Ragland. Any mutiny attempts were put down and offenders slapped in the brig. We boarded and plundered the ship, “You’ll Die Laughing” and then showed the natives on Senior Island a good time with a shindig and crowned one of them our Queen. We proceeded on our way after the evening’s festivities and landed in a friendly port in 1948. A.D. 1948-1949 September 1949-Starting on the final leg of our cruise, we furled the sails and drifted easily in on smooth and peaceful waters. Our command again was changed: Dorn and Perkins took charge of the crew. We terrorized the inhabitants of Sophomore City and completely subdued them. Now thatwe were “AlmostEighteen” we robbed another ship and saw to the purchase of new equipment for the fleet. We stopped one night on Junior Island and were royally feted by the natives there. When we landed at Graduation, Journey’s End, May 27, the experienced officers and crew setout on separate voyages to winhighesthonors and glory for the class of ‘49. •i. ■ £ ■ d • 8 I KK CLASS WILL ROBERT ARMSTRONG - Wills his footballs to Carol Crouch.
